I used a different technique to create the base for the broach than the parts in the rest of the piece. I've softened up the edges a bit, and that probably helps. Press ctrl + f5 to see it if the above post doesn't show the new version.

Yeah I like how it stands out personally, think it draws attention which is good in this case, pretty cool leaf design ya got going with it, very unique.

A little experiment...
I used this piccy:

And made a folded paper effect using various techniques. The wood grain is made from scratch. The text was just randomly added to give it a "finished" feel.

That really looks sweet Tai, that's a really wicked effect ya did with the paper, so interesting and the font looks like the real thing that Gorillaz uses, and ya did the wood from scratch? That's amazing, how'd ya do it?

Wood texture looks a little stretched.
The light on the right hand side fold looks a little static.
The shadowing underneath appears to be a bit "heavy"
Pretty novel idea, worked well too. Good Job

Another practice - this one isn't quite as "tricky" looking, but I think it's neat.
The see-through pill is created from scratch (the technique I was practicing), I ganked the rabbit from some site via Google Image Search just to demonstrate a bit of linear displacement behind the pill. The rest is thrown in just to make it seem more like a finished product rather than a technique practice.
