Right, here's the next film, then.

A temporarily unemployed man who is slightly irritated by his too-perfect girlfriend's incessant nagging that she wants to get married, spends most of the film irritating her through a rather odd obsession of his. After a while, the woman is drawn into that obsession and nearly gets hurt because of it, but it all ends well. Well, sort of - the man takes a fall from a second-floor window, but survives (which unfortunately means the poor fellow will probably have to marry The Girlfriend once he's recovered).

Hint #1: This is a film by a British director who did most of his films in the US.
Hint #2: There is a murder (technically two, but victim #2 isn't human).
Hint #3: The actor who played the villain in this film later grew a beard and became one of the most famous TV-lawyers of his time.

Hint #4: The Strange Obsession is the hero's belief somebody was murdered, so he keeps seeing "clues" everywhere, although everybody else doesn't. Not at first, anyway.
Hint #5: Throughout the film, the hero is referred to as "Jeff", but that's just his nickname. His real first name is never mentioned (it starts with an L, but that's all you ever learn).

Anyway, in this next film, the hero's home is over-run by squatters.  He (and his new friend) has to go on a loooong quest for the king, in order to reclaim his home and get rid of the squatters.
