;) This is too easy, that is too hard. GEEZ! You're a tough customer ;)

Yeah, it's the Seven Samurai, although I was waiting for someone to guessing that Yul Brunner western.

The Magnificent Seven? Probably, they're basically just different settings and that's about it.

This movie stars a man who's wounded, dies, but doesn't really die, and comes back home and suffers bizarre hallucinations and voices, after becoming sick and being embroiled in a sort of conspiracy, he dies, but it turns out he died before any of this happened.

Know what I'm saying?

Or that western movie that was made in fashion  of seven samurai... but anyways, it really sounds like either one.

It sounds almost exactly like An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce, but the 1960s/1970s bit doesn't fit, obviously. Is it an adaptation of that story by any chance?

Also sounds a bit like that film that came out a few years ago where it turns out it's actually the protagonist that's a ghost.
Can't remember the name though, and never watched it cause it looked gash.

Ok, let's see:

In this movie, the Main Man learns latin grammar and is saved by a spaceship in the nick of time. The movie also involves a holy sandal and bearded ladies.

Due to popular demand, here's one more hint: The movie is a spoof of the life of one of the most well known men in history, a man looked up to by more than 2 billion people world wide.
