What about giants (H) in wilderness? I think I've encountered at least hill giant near VD, however I'm not really sure.

The only "horses" in the game, that I know of, are the two Unicorns, but you won't meet them until you are around level 25-30.

Wilderness encounters are level-dependent, though, and (sorry if this sounds a bit rude), there is no way Piggy's character could have reached a high enough level for that.

Are they? Why I keep encountering Lone Hydras at swamps, which are far too powerful to any character below level 10?

Because life is tough even for low-level characters.:ok: You can encounter swamp hydras from level 1 onwards.

If you want my 50 cents, he just met a normal random monster who walked at normal speed... while he was burdened or overburdened. The monster would be of normal speed, but because of the burden it would look like he is quite fast in relation to him. :ok:

Just a tought.

What's better?

Blessed Seven League boots [+1, 0] or Blessed Boots of Speed [-1, 0] (+8 spd) ?

I'd probably go for the Seven League Boots here, because of the DV bonus.
