Nope, the makers are Telltale games, and they have used the process before with the game Bone. Also on their site.

It'll be happening more and more with some games, depends on if the publisher and or developer decides could work out and be profitable.

Definitely, gotta keep the price low, and it'll be an option, don't think it'll become the norm for quite some time.

On a related note, there's some videos floating around YouTube from the Leipzig Games convention of gameplay in Portal, Episode 2 and the incredible-looking Team Fortress 2. Links here.
Personally I'd happily pay the cost of Ep 2 for Portal and TF2 alone at this rate

Indeed wouldn't mind myself from what I've seen.

Now long as it doesn't stay in another limbo for 5 years and delivers, with the high expectations it will have hopefully shall prevail.

How is that inconsistent? I'd rather wait 6 months and get a polished experience. The development schedule they're on at the minute should let them respond to people's concerns about a given episode and redress them with the next one - f'rinstance, Ep1 was a bit short and had no multiplayer component, and Ep2 will be longer, less linear (hopefully - HL has never managed that well), apparently better in technological terms on high-end systems and with TF2 as MP content - what more could you ask for?

I'd rather throw that consistency out, if it meant getting an inferior product, if your sticking to a guideline like that, in some cases it does help the end product, but if situations arise and they are scrambling to get the game out, then no way don't like that sort of idea.
Let them take their time on it and make it a good stable and all around enjoyable experience not just to get the quick buck from consumers.
