I don't think it was so much criticizing as much as it was mostly they didn't want those sorts of elements in their games, like Mortal Kombat, course that attitude changed soon after the ESRB ratings came into effect, as evident with Mortal Kombat 2 and nintedo's version.

It's not really a commercial, it's the channel G4 making fun of one of the consoles, namely the PS3, and the major audience of that channel are males, which means they'll get the point.
It's probably from the show X-Play, which can be funny as hell at times.

Calm down, Piggy. I prefer Wii over PS3 as well.
On the other hand, I think Sony can make such mockery of this commercial in their "counter-version" that Nintendo could stop showing this one out. I honestly don't like it, and I would even find it contraproductive. It's like saying "Wii players are dumb kids which will end up pimped for a porn site, but hey- they are more fun then fat World War 2 junkies of PS3."

It's just a commercial spoofing dude, and if ya read Nintendo doesn't have a say in this one. A show on G4 did the spoof, so doubt Sony will do anything in this case, nor doubt they would want to anyway.
