What are your Top 5 favourite computer game characters?

It would be interesting if you named them, but also say why you like them.
Please remember to say what game they are from.

My Top 5:

1.   Dizzy - Any Dizzy game
I first played Dizzy games on the Spectrum, when I was knee-high to a grasshopper.  I love the way he moves, the way he sommersaults forward, and the way he constantly shoogles his arms.  Dizzy holds a lot of nostalgia delight for me, and he remains a firm favourite.

2.  Cortez - The Longest Journey
Cortez is wise beyond his years.  He is not what he first appears to be, and he has a lot of secrets.  However, he is kind, and he will risk anything for April Ryan.

3.   Oscar - Syberia
Oscar is a robot with a heart of gold.  He is so stuffy at first, but that adds to his appeal.  He is funny without meaning to be funny.  And he proves his loyalty to Kate Walker on more than one occasion.

4.   Prick Peckard - Barn Runner Games
Prick must be the laziest detective around!!!  He is very hard boiled, but the jumpers he wears are just wacky.  He frequently goes off into his own little world, and imagines conspiricies where no conspiricies exist.  But he always solves the case -somehow.

5.   Green Tentacle - Maniac Mansion & Day Of The Tentacle
He is a very unusual character - a mutant tentacle.  But he is loveable, and he is a hero.  Enough said!

Lara Croft

Indiana Jones. It would be unfair to mention his female copycat and not him, wouldn't it.

Sonic the Hedgehog. Well it's a long time since I played my old Sega Master System but back then during the Nintendo-Sega wars I chose my side. :D

I'll reserve the other two slots in case I can think of something.
..oO Mustached Crusader of the PEEKOCKSWOOZZLE Order Oo..
"STFU and show me your screenies!!"

I'm gonna steal Indiana Jones.
The man's brought me great joy with his awesomeness and casual chauvinism.
Better than Bond.

Super Mario from Super Mario Bros.
He's italian and he jumps on stuff. This has also brought me great joy.

Vhailor from Planescape: Torment.
He's a spirit in a suit of armour kept moving by his insane, intensely focussed dedication to justice and unwillingness to acknowledge that he's dead.
What's not to love?

Meathook from Monkey Island.
He's a bald guy with a hook hand, and touching a parrot earns his respect.

Cid from Final Fantasy VII
For lighting a stick of dynamite with his cigarette.

Vhailor? Are you kidding me? His entire personality was full of boring conventionalities and annoyances. His whole "I'm a badass machine of justice" facade was so irritating, especially since he was ABSOLUTELY useless. A freaking suit of armor with terrible AC? Reputation as an unstoppable warrior yet Dak'kon chainsaws through enemies at LIGHTSPEED in comparison to him? Hell, my freaking Nameless One as a pure mage could beat him in hand to hand combat with a hand dagger and no spells.

Vhailor's interactions with the other characters were weak, and he had no deep back story beyond what the other characters did, even that freaking annoying as hell Ignus had a better developed back story.

This was one of my least favorite parts of PS:T, the writing was extremely inconsistent, and Vhailor is the perfect example of that, he's one of the weakest characters in the game, and if there are minor characters I remember more than a party-able NPC there's something wrong.
Besides, saying he's more memorable than Dak'kon or Nordom is rather strange, those characters were absolutely insanely well developed, Dak'kon having the best writing of ALL the characters in the game, with deep and intelligent back story to boot.

In no particular order :
1. Manuel "Manny" Calavera (Grim Fandango, I'm only gonna put one comedy character from a Lucasarts game...or else they'd take up all 5 xD)
2. Indiana Jones
3. "The Doom guy" (he needed to be on here SOMEWHERE)
4. Geralt (The WItcher, mostly for his utterly apathetic voice / dialogue)
5. GLaDOS (Portal, I don't care how ridiculously over praised Portal has gotten because of the internet, it still has some of the wittiest dialogue I've seen in a long time)

I - MONA SAX in Max Payne 2
Only mature female in games who actually is hot! (Well, who girl isn't who carries helluva load of guns?) Seriously, her voice (well, the actress's, but still), her face and expressions, her history (how semi-cliché it ever may be) and her natural sex appeal takes her to number one easily, without any questions or doubts. She's the closest thing I could fall in love in fictive game character. Thank you Remedy.

II - MAX PAYNE in Max Payne 2
What can I say? The Cop, The Vigilante, The Worst Nightmare Ever If You're The Bad Guy. Dignifiedly aged tough guy, who has lost everything and is only hanging in there. And the one who got Mona's love. Again, great voice-acting and overall coolness. If I'm ever going to grow up, I'll be like him! :D Thank you again Remedy.

III - Imoen in Baldur's Gate series
Annoying to the extreme, so that you just can't dislike her!

IV - Bastila Shan in Knights of the Old Republic
Impossible to explain. There's just something in her.

V - Impossible to name anyone anymore. There are so many candidates for this fifth position, that I give up or say "all my own character's I've created in rpg-games".

Actually Boo is debatable - it's game-engine-wise an item, not a character... :D

1. JC Denton (Deus EX) With the numerous ways to complete a game, JC can go from being a stealthy guy to an all out bad *money-maker*, and his voice acting in the game is superb.

2. Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island Series) The character that really got me into adventure games back in the day, such a unique character at the time back then, always trying to reach his goal and by Curse of Monkey Island again another fantastically voiced character.

3. Manny Calavera (Grim Fandango) When this game came out, it was so different for Lucasarts at the time, great storyline, setting and music, and Manny with his unique personality, was just one of the fantastic characters in the game.

4. Kyle Katarn - (Star Wars Jedi Knight Series) - He certainly has grown a lot since the early days, this was a solid series, where Kyle who could use both sides of the force and fulfilled many star wars fans who wanted to cut down stormtroopers and other enemies with a lightsaber.

5. Sam and Max (Recent Sam and Max Series moreso) Although paying homage to the earlier game, with the recent revival by Telltale games, these guys are a riot and there is no stopping them anytime soon.

I love Yahtzee
Didn't really agree with that review though (nor did I care too much for the "cutscene theater" or w/e at the end, personally I liked most of the dialogue, or at least more than any other game I've played recently, and the  inven. screen / all that wasn't really as complicated as he said, also I've seen thicker manuals :D I do agree with his complaints about "Researching skulls" though.
But yes, Yahtzee is brilliant. MUMORPUGER

I agree with these two, personally I'd switch them around since Mona was a bit cheesy at the end of Max Payne 2. And before you tell me the whole game was cheesy with its dialog, I meant her role became UNBELIEVABLY cheesy at the end of the game.
