Anyways, the best and probably fastpaced roguelike is IMHO DoomRL (Doom: The Roguelike)...

It's really fastpaced, easy to control character/do stuff, hard levels, nice traps, and it's got SOUND..

Hmmm - as fas as I can tell that link is for an uncompiled version of Angband TK rather than Zangband TK compiled which is what I was looking for. I'll have to see what I can do about this...
