STORY

Dizzy and Daisy, being the kind-hearted eggs that they are, decide to make a cherry pie for Grand Dizzy. Unfortunately, Pogie the fluffle has eaten all the cherries, so they have to venture into the forest to collect more cherries. As they explore the forest, they come across a castle. However, things do not go as planned. Rockwart the Troll has taken over the castle in the king's absence, and is causing chaos. He locks poor Dizzy up in the dungeon, and who knows where Daisy is now.

This is where you come in. You must help Dizzy escape from his prison, and rescue Daisy. Along the way, you must find a way to get rid of the troll, cheer up a princess, help a lion in distress, call the king back home, and a whole host of other tasks. In addition, don't forget about finding cherries for Grand Dizzy's cherry pie! What is an egg to do?

GAMEPLAY

This remake was made by Peter Teal in March 2007, and is very faithful to the original. You must explore the area, and try to find various items to help you progress in the game. As with most Dizzy games, you can carry up to 3 items at a time. Your lives, energy level, and the number of cherries you have collected (there are 20 to find) are shown at the top of the screen, as well as the screen's title. The game also has a nice 'Save \\ Load' option, which I found quite useful. The game can be played using keyboard or joypad. If you have a rumble pad, I highly recommend you use that. The pad vibrates when Dizzy is injured, which adds a lot of fun to the game.

Escape - Save \\ Load \\ Restart menu

GRAPHICS & SOUND EFFECTS

The graphics are very colourful and cartoony, which makes the game a lot of fun to play. Dizzy's movements are very smooth, and his unique style of somersaulting is fun to watch. Fire in the torches flicker, as though really alive. I especially liked the Ferryman, with his long cloak and scythe. The fluffle and the troll were also good characters. I think the music is very cheerful, and it inspires you to keep playing. I loved the sound effect of Dizzy jumping, it is just right for the game.

PUZZLES

The puzzles are quite tricky at times, so you have to think about what you are doing. As I said earlier, you must find items to aid you with various quests. However, you can only carry 3 items at a time, and sometimes you have to drop items in order to pick something else up. Just make sure you remember where you drop things!

SUMMARY

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and I can highly recommend it. It is an excellent remake that every Dizzy fan will love. It is fun to play, and simple to control. The graphics are classic 'Dizzy' style, and are lovely to see. The puzzles are quite tricky at times, since you can only carry 3 items. The 'Save' feature is very handy for saving your progress. This means you do not have to start back at the beginning each time. Why not download it, and give it a try? What have you got to lose?
