Released in 1995 by Interactive Binary Illusions, Flight of the Amazon Queen is a tongue-in-cheek romp in the jungle noticably influenced by LucasArts games such as Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Monkey Island. Heavily laced with puns and pop-culture humor, this game is a fun time-killer, if not one of the heavy hitters of the genre.

You play as Joe King (get it? ha, ha... *ahem*), a down-on-his-luck pilot who has been contracted to escort the extremely self-absorbed Faye Russel, actress extraordinaire, deep into the Amazon jungle for a photo shoot. Unfortunately, things never do work out as they should, and you end up with a nice plane wreck to deal with, as well as threats of lawyer intervention, should you manage to even escape the jungle alive. Complicating the situation even further, there's a mad scientist with a thing for dinosaurs running loose in the area, attempting to collect Amazonian specimens.

Save the girl(s), save the jungle, and save your job. Just another day's work in the realm of adventure gaming.

This game is enhanced by beautiful graphics and a decently engaging storyline spiced up by the good old quirky humor true gamers have come to know and cherish. Negatives include a point-and-click interface that gets somewhat annoying after a while, and music that leaves a bit to be desired as you're getting stuck trying to figure out the puzzles. In some cases, those puzzles are fairly difficult to figure out, as the solutions can be incredibly obscure.

Definitely worth a download.
