Waxy’s Rocket Party Reviewed by: DeathDude Positive Points: Plenty of levels Some really challenging levels Presentation looks good Negative Points: Some more variation for environments Genre: Action Size: 6851 KB Requirements: Windows Questionable Content: None Editor rating: 3.9 Homepage: http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=338217 Download location: http://www.willhostforfood.com/files/39001/rocket.zip Breezing through seventy levels worth of obstacles, tight turns, and other dangers that your little critter’s rocket has to face is an enduring task for any gamer. Especially when you are also racing against the clock for the fastest time you can attain, and at the same time, you must monitor your rocket’s fuel supply to ensure it does not empty completely and plunge your rocket to its death. Controlling your rocket across seventy levels is essentially what this game is about, but it is not the easiest seventy levels you will encounter, there are quite a number of insane level designs, that will challenge your reflexes and maybe have you cursing at your computer screen. However what Waxy’s Rocket Party, does provide is simple sit down and play action, which will test all of your skills and see if you are up to the task. There is no real story that is mentioned in the game, but essentially one day a little animal critter is sitting outside reading his newspaper, when out of the blue a rocket comes out of nowhere and crashes through where he is sitting, trapping him in the rocket and now being forced to navigate through a number of deadly levels, to get back home I would assume. The point nevertheless, is that you must guide your little rocket across many different levels, all the while dodging the many obstacles that you encounter to reach the finish line and advance to the next level. You control your rocket with the arrow keys, and you can control your speed by using the up arrow key, to slow down your rocket, letting go of the up key will cause your rocket to pick up speed. Watch your fuel supply though, every time you hit the up key, you will lose a little bit of fuel, empty your fuel tank and your rocket will plummet to the ground. However, you can collect more fuel, by way of the blue little balls that are scattered throughout each level. You do not always have to collect these blue balls to refuel, but on some levels it is mandatory to do so. As was said earlier, there is an abundance of levels for you to explore and encounter as you guide your rocket through them all. Some are quite easy and others are just crazy in terms of the different obstacles and challenges that you have to face in order to finish those levels. I found that there was a good balance between the easy and hard levels, and that eventually through practice you should be able to master them all. It’s all about reflexes and controlling your rockets trajectory as it is plunging down the levels. The overall presentation of the game looks quite good. From the design of the different levels, to the overall look of the game it looks quite nice to see in action and even just as each level starts and you see the level scrolling up. Nice work done by the author on this front. The music in the game is okay I thought. Nothing special and I think it does tend to get a bit tiring to listen to as the game progresses. You can turn it off if you wish which was a nice option to be included and instead listen to your own tunes. I would have liked to see some more variation in the levels that you play through, even though there are seventy of them. Not only in the area of obstacles, but also some new looking environments that does not look all too similar as many of them seem to do. Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable game that I had fun playing and I do recommend it if your looking for a quick time waster to challenge yourself. Check out Waxy’s Rocket Party and get your reflexes ready and guide the rocket to safety.
