Let me start this review by saying that I positively love the game Warhammer 40,000 (on which this is based), and I think that the Space Marine Terminators (which you control in the game) are my favorite units in the game. That’s why when playing this game I had a great experience, with one little problem that kept this one off of a perfect 5. In every mission you start off with a Terminator team, which has an objective to fulfill. The objectives usually are simply “kill the aliens” or “destroy this thing,” but if you get over that, you will realize that Space Hulk is quite hard. It’s not as hard as rock, mind you, but there still is a bit of brain power needed to successfully get through it. The graphics and sound aren’t the best around; in fact they are far from it. The controls are also a bit hard to just pick up, but luckily the game comes with a manual so you won’t always be lost. The gameplay itself is a top-down, turn-based strategy romp through downed ships; units can only move so far (even turning takes up a movement point), and weapons are far from scarce. The worst thing in the whole game I can think of is the lack of multiplayer, I mean come on! Wouldn’t it be awesome to kill your friend in a quick game? All in all, Space Hulk is a game lovers of strategy (or Warhammer 40,000) will adore - I know I did!
