DeathBall 2013 Reviewed by: DeathDude Positive Points: Different sort of soccer game Simple to pickup and play Negative Points: Odd installation method Can only control one foosball player Genre: Arcade Size: 94 743 KB Requirements: Windows Questionable Content: 13+ Blood Editor rating: 4.2 Homepage: http://deathball2013.com/ Download location: http://deathball2013.com/ In the future, somehow and someway foosball tables and their characters are battling each other for supremacy, you as the captain of an up and coming foosball team, must battle your way against the other teams and emerge as the foosball champion of the world! *Cue dramatic pause* While the goal may be simple, you can bet that the road to the championship will be long, painful and with plenty of challenges along the way. In DeathBall 2013, not only do you get some intriguing and different sort of soccer gameplay, the game is also quite simple to pick up and play, and with a little practice, you do will start to dominate and have some fun. The gameplay of DeathBall 2013 is essentially like a soccer game, with a few modifications thrown into the mix. You control one foosball player throughout the course of a game, so you do not have to worry about the other players on your team as they control themselves. Now this can be seen as a good or bad thing, depending on how you like to play these types of sports games, if you wish to control everyone and plan your attacking and defending in a certain way, or if you would rather have the ease of only worrying about your only player in the course of the game. Regardless of which option you enjoy, your team does a pretty good job taking care of itself and worrying about such things as scoring and tackling the opposition. Now the main objective through the course of the game is to score in your opponents net with the white ball and to have the highest score in the course of the game, now here is where the game begins to differ from the soccer that most of us know about. Now of course it would not be a soccer game without tackling, and there is plenty of tackling in DeathBall 2013, except it is that forward kicking motion, that is essentially a flipping sort of kick move, which you know what I am talking about if you have ever played on a foosball table in real life. By using this tackling move on the opposing players, after executing three tackles you will decapitate your opponent. Yes, you read that right, blood will pour from your opponent and you will be able to use their head as a new ball on the field. If that seems like a lot to take in, take a moment for that to sink in. Okay now that you have had that moment to accept what I just said, that is the jest of this particular game and while it can get quite gruesome with all the tackling and whatnot going on. When you do defeat an opponent or are defeated in this manner of losing your head, you or your opponent will receive a substation on the field so do not worry you will be able to still keep playing. It still is a pretty fun soccer like game that challenges you through either the quick play mode or the season mode, where you can challenge many more teams, which get progressively tougher, as you win your matches. The good thing as well about the game is the easy controls and relative ease to jump into the action right away. When you start a game, you will be treated to the control screen that lays out the moves for the game. You use the W, S, A, D keys for movement, the J key is to sprint, K is to shoot, and L is to pass the ball around. Occasionally the ball or balls may get stuck in your goal or your opponent’s goal so press the Space bar to get the balls free from this area; you will soon see why you need to. Overall, you should be able to ease into the game fairly quickly, keep in mind as well that you cannot change the controls, but after a few rounds playing the game you should be able to ease into using them. There are some sticky areas such as tackling, which you may or may not get the hang of after a few games, it definitely takes practice to know when to execute a tackle, but keep on practicing and show the other foosball players who the boss is in this game. The graphics of the game look all right, there is only one field in which you will be playing off of, and it looks pretty much like a soccer field would, a little bit shorter but with advertisements and a cheering crowd all intact for you to see. The sound and music in the game is also pretty good overall. There is only one music track over the course of the game, which you will either love, or you will end up hating, it seems to fall into that spectrum. What is also interesting to hear, is the different foosball players during the game taunting one another, from getting hit by a tackle, to executing a tackle on one of them, to simply scoring a goal and hearing goalllllllllllllllllllllll. The only odd thing about the game that is never really explained on the installation screen, is the two other packages you must install with the game. There is a direct x runtime update program that you must put in a folder and run to update your files, in case you have not bought a fairly recent game in the last while, but even if you have run the package anyway. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a soccer game with a twist, then DeathBall 2013, definitely should fit the bill, with its action and soccer like atmosphere in place. So check out DeathBall 2013 and see it in action for yourself.
