Knytt. It’s a wonderful game. Like a lot of good games Knytt stays true to itself throughout. It’s not another one of those games trying to do everything it can , just to say it did. It’s a well thought out, acutely polished playing experience and I love it. It’s a little gem, true to the genre from which it descends. Like any other good platformer you can run and jump throughout the entire land. Literally. There’s no damn limits! I fired up Knytt for the first time, and spent quite a big chunk of my time just looking around. There’s few games, including those that boast a bazillion acres of land that actually keep me interested whilst I explore. Knytt is different. Every background, every screen through which your travel is brilliantly different. Yet, it all feels so natural and intertwined that you begin to feel at home with the world around you. It becomes a home away from home, and I’ve found myself burrowed behind my monitor blitzing through the land of Knytt for ages on end.. Just for a quick bit of fun. What more can you ask for? Well, a bit. Actually. The game’s main strength is it’s volume and open endedness. As well as a few nifty features that set it apart from the crowd. However, this is also where the game falls short. I won’t deny there’s a lot of variety.. There’s absolutely loads when it comes to the graphics. Problem is, a lot of the actual game play feels the same. Now, in most games that’d be a pretty standard trade off. People play platformers specifically for the unique, and challenging gaming. Not the pretty graphics. So, we have a slight problem. I’d like to say it’s just a minor gripe of mine, but I think quite a few people will find the lack of variation a little disappointing. When the game has so much else going for it, you just wish there was more to do. That’s not to say there isn’t already A LOT to do. You’ll definitely be doing a lot of running around during your visit, as well as a fair bit of jumping. This is a platform game after all. Thankfully though, there’s more to it than that. Run, jump.. And now in the modern age…. Scour some frickin walls too! That’s right, in Knytt you can pretty much throw yourself at a concrete wall… an be rewarded for it. Genius, I know! As you launch across the land, and collide with a nearby wall your little monkey self will automatically attach to the sticky surface and begin another adventure. You can move both up and down walls, as well as from left to right across the floor. That means, there’s a lot of interesting mazes to explore, and get your head around. Just don’t expect them to all be as fun as each other, some are great. Other’s aren’t. I am however, sure you’ll find something you like. The sound is pretty good too. The music’s great, even if it doesn’t actually play that often. The sound effects are distinct . Again , I found they hid away too often. The ambience, is one thing I found no fault with. The background noise, is just great. Everything, from the rustling of trees, to the distant swirling of the wind can be heard at one point or another. This really helps bring the land, and the game to life. Knytt is perfect for the younger audience. The music is both fun and fitting. The graphics are colourful ,clean and cartoony. . The game play itself is pretty simple. The only downside is, it gets somewhat repetitive. Now, that might bother some of us.. But I doubt the littleuns will mind! --- Admin Junk -- Member Name: Sean Game Genre: Platformer 3 Positive Points: Brilliantly Varied Backgrounds Child Friendly.
