Guardian of Paradise BOSS STRATEGY GUIDE written by Tom Henrik Aaberg http://www.reloaded.org Note: Remember that you can exit the Boss screen if the battle is getting out of hand and you are about to die. Just destroy the blocks blocking your exit by whacking them with your sword. Forest Boss: "The Turnip" The first real boss that you will meet is a rather happy-looking turnip surrounded by four spiked balls. This boss is also one of the easiest bosses, as it does not pack any attacks itself, but relies on the Flies that are generated from the balls. The key to destroying the Turnip is to use the destructive powers granted to you by Luca, the Forest Spirit. Use Luca to smash the four balls, and victory is yours. The Flies are a never-ending source of Magic Points. Water Boss: "The Lizard of the Lake" This boss is one of the toughest bosses in the game, as you have to avoid several fireballs spewed forth from the Lizard, in addition to four enemies that will continuosly be respawned once all four have been killed. In order to win this fight, you will have to shoot the lizard with your water attack. Kill the other enemies to replenish your magic. Wind Boss: "The Golden Dragon" Not quite as tough as the Lizard, but the Golden Dragon is still a force to be reckoned with. You can't attack it while it is in the air, so you will need to wait for it to land, then make your move. You can use your Wind attack to damage the dragon, but I would not recommend it, due to the nature of its attacks. The Golden Dragon has two main attacks (three, if you count landing on your head). It throws huge boulders at you, and it also generates gusts of winds that will knock you off your feet and harm you in the process. This is why I would not recommend using your Wind attack for this monster, as your free jump power will let you jump over those winds and start whacking the boss wildly with your sword. Also, there are no other monsters around, so you can't replenish your magic. Dark Boss: "The Golem Butcher" This is the easiest boss in the game, but mess it up, and he becomes impossible to beat. The Golem is completely immune to any attacks you throw at it, except your most powerful Dark Magic. Ram the Golem for all your worth, and he will go down fairly quick. So how do you mess this one up? If you run into (or otherwise destroy) the Skeleton Spawner. You will burn off three magic points each time you use your power, so you need to replenish your magic quite often by killing Skeletons. No Skeletons means no magic means no victory. His attacks are limited to hurling his axes towards you. Fire Boss 1: "The Ticked-Off Tick" The first Fire Boss is a rather angry Tick, but don't let that anger fool you. He is a close second to the title of "Easiest Boss". His only means of attack is running wildly across the screen, and hoping that he will run over you if he just runs around long enough. The best way to kill him is to set off explosions close to him. Don't worry about your magic here, as there are two Fire Chests in the room with you. There should be more than enough Magic Points for this battle. Just stay out of his way. Remember that he only moves in four directions, so if you want to be absolutely safe, just stand diagonally from him. Fire Boss 2: "FireFox" Yup, that's right. The second Fire Boss is the mighty FireFox himself, and he can be quite the mouthful. He uses two forms, each with different fighting styles. In his main Lupine form, he dashes forth to attack you, as well as using the occasional fire burst. Use your Fire Breath to do the most harm to him in this form. Don't worry about your Magic Points, you'll get plenty of those as soon as you've dealt him a certain amount of damage. Once that happens, he will change his form into two floating heads that will continuously breathe fire at you. I recommend killing these off with your sword, and then collect the abundance of Magic Points that they leave behind. When both heads are defeated, FireFox will revert to his main body again. Then it is just a matter of repeating the steps until you stand victorious. Final Boss: "Chaos" This is the final boss in the game, and also the only fight you can't run from. Once you have challenged Chaos, there is no turning back. As it should be, Chaos is also the most difficult boss to defeat, as he uses all the Spirit Powers to attack you. You will notice that Chaos is surrounded by five Spirit Containers, corresponding to the five different Spirits, Forest, Water, Wind, Dark and Fire. Also, you will notice that he changes Spirits in a pattern, going from left to right, bottom to top (or, if you like, the exact same order as you first collected the Spirits). After a while he disappears, and gets replaced by two Magic Points of each single Spirit. To the average gamer this would indicate that you would need to have the appropriate Spirit equipped for when Chaos is going to come back and attack you. In essence, fight fire with fire. This, however, is completely wrong. Don't feel too bad, though. You were on the right lines. You will have to fight fire with fire, as you will have to destroy the containers using the corresponding Spirit. However, when you do this is completely up to you. Chaos uses different attacks depending on his current Spirit, so the best way to deal with him is to destroy the Spirit Container which you feel has the most dangerous attack. For me, this was Fire first, then Wind, Dark, Earth, and finally Water. To destroy a container, you need to use your Magic. Remember that you will get ten new Magic Points each time Chaos disappears, so don't hold out. Give him all that you have got. Once all the containers are destroyed, he will launch his final attack pattern, which is basically the same as his Earth Attack. This is a sword-fight. He will not disappear anymore, so don't count on your magic for this one. Forest Attack: Green balls of pure energy is sent out in every direction from the center of Chaos. Just stand a bit off, and it is easy to stand in the clear area between two balls. Water Attack: Chaos summons huge blocks of ice, and drops them on your head. Since they fall down exactly where you were standing at the moment he summoned them, all you have to do is keep moving around. By far the easiest attack to avoid. Wind Attack: Giant whirlwinds will move towards you erratically, making them hard to avoid. Running a bit back and forth helps, though. Dark Attack: Clouds of Darkness will home in on you, while they grow in and out of size. The best tip for this one is to keep moving, and try not to get trapped in a corner. Fire Attack: Chaos sends a multitude of huge walls of flame towards you, and it is very difficult to avoid these completely. Chaos Attack: Same as the Earth Attack, but with the added erratic movements of Chaos himself. Try to keep your distance, but be ready to move in for the kill when he slows down.
