F1 Racing Reviewed by: DeathDude Positive Points: Different types of F1 vehicles Nice looking game Negative Points: Only 1 environment 2 lives Genre: Racing Size: 2.89 MB Requirements: Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP or better Pentium 800mhz or better 64 MB RAM 15 MB hard drive space 800x600 display resolution mode or higher High or true color highly recommended DirectX 5.0 or better Questionable Content: None Editor rating: 3.6 Homepage: http://www.myplaycity.com/games/ Download location: http://www.myplaycity.com/f1_racing/ Enter your F1 car, and get ready to race against your opponents, while you will only start out against 1 other rival, as you win and make sure not to crash, your opponents will increase and the tracks will get more varied and more difficult to complete, this won’t be an easy race for you to complete, but it still will be an entertaining one. In F1 racing what you get, is a simplistic racing game, that has you competing against different opponents and ever changing tracks, and if you happen to do quite well, you can upload your scores to the games website, and see how you do. With your choice of different F1 vehicles, from real makers like Ferrari or Maclaren and just a generally nice looking game, if you’re a racing fan looking to kill some time, this game does the trick nicely. Controls and such should be set up before you start, but once that is finished, you can start the game, pick your car and your set to begin racing. You begin racing against one opponent, but as you advance in the races, making sure not to crash, you will start to face more and more opponents, and they will not make the experience easy for you. Make sure not to crash more than twice, or your racing career will come to an end. The higher you finish in a race, will determine the amount of points you receive and once you do finish or face your end via crashing, you may be able to upload your high score if you happen to score high enough. Graphically the game looks really nice, from the different cars, to the racing environment as you are racing; it looks very nice as a whole. Granted you probably will notice it too much as you are trying to get that coveted first place. The different cars look nice as well, and if you hit the other cars, their parts will slowly but surely begin to fall off, until eventually your F1 racer will cease to function. You have your choice of different vehicles, which each have their own strengths and weaknesses, what is interesting is that the game uses real car makers, granted this is probably more relevant if you understand and follow F1 racing, but still nice little feature to see. The games music and sound effects are quite nice as well, they don’t distract from the experience thankfully, and all the sorts of sounds you would expect to hear are all present. Nevertheless, besides just offering this racing experience, the game feels a bit empty in terms of different modes to try. Would have been nice to have maybe a ghost racing mode, or even training, a season mode, or more. There is only one racing environment as well that you will see, the course changes though as you progress but nevertheless you will get used to seeing the same sort of screen over and over. As well, you only have 2 “lives” or chances to crash your car, after that the game is over, and you will have to start from the beginning again, can be quite annoying especially at higher levels, where you need to race quickly, because of the time limit and still have to react to the different curves and changes in the course. Still if your looking for a quick racing game to play, look no further than this one, just do not expect a whole lot from it. Check out F1 Racing and see it for yourself.
