Buccaneer Reviewed by: DeathDude Positive Points: Nice interface Good graphics Negative Points: Game too short Not much in terms of story line Genre: Adventure Size: 1.07 MB Requirements: Windows Questionable Content: None Editor rating: 3.7 Homepage: http://www.unosar.com/ Download location: http://www.unosar.com/games_buc.php There is just that feeling of anticipation that I get whenever I download an adventure game, I may play quite a bit, but it's always interesting to see what the developers out there come up with. Which brings me to this title, Buccaneer is the name, an interesting short adventure game that really is quite the quick play if you don't have a lot of time to complete a full on adventure game. A good adventure interface chosen for this game, good graphics and just an intriguing story make this a title to check out. The game starts out simple enough you play as Richard. You wake up one morning to find yourself disoriented after a night of drinking, to discover something seems a little off about your room. Soon enough after some searching you discover that your manifests are missing! Oh no not the manifests, anything but the manifests. All right so now you must go forth and find out what happened to them, did someone steal them? Where are the manifests? Seasoned adventure gamers will notice straight away at the familiar interface when the game loads up. If you ever played any of the Lucarts titles like Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, this is the interface, a very effective one. Everything is set out nicely for the player and it just gives the game's presentation a more professional feeling. The graphic style also is reminiscent of the Monkey Island games, obviously by today's standards not that impressive. Still they are effective for the game, it's a nice style that conveys the atmosphere of the game. Which brings me to the actual length of the game, it is short. I mean really short, even the author admits that this was done to mostly introduce the characters in the game, so that the next game Buccaneer 2 would be much longer in length. That was a minor quip but was not that big of a deal. In terms of the actual story just trying to find a manifest, not that all exciting, still simple yet effective can be good. However, if your looking for a quick adventure game to keep you entertained for a bit of time, then this one does the trick nicely. Buccaneer is the name, go check it out.
