Thanks again for the comments
Continuing with the matrix-ish theme, another practice, with a more complicated application as a dual-colored pill capsule (or wine gummy, whichever you prefer
)

Speaking of indecision, I'm probably going to work on architechtural perspective or photorealistic painting next...
Photorealistic painting is much more interesting to me, but very time consuming, and I can't really say I have a whole lot of time. I'm weaker in architectural perspective (in fact, I pretty much suck at anything involving straight lines), so should probably work on that, and it does take less time, but... it's just not as much fun to do.
Sigh... decisions, decisions...

Very sweet Tai, looks awesome.
That's a really cool effect, getting even awesomer with each draft.
As for the decision do what ya think is right, whichever is more interesting personally think is the best choice as even if time consuming least you'll be enjoying the process.
Or you could do the other way and just flip a coin on it.

In followup to a conversation on the SB regarding the pen tool, I'm posting some stuff I've been working on. Don't worry Raffles, I'll eventually attempt that wine-gum cathedral
I was working with a picture of a lotus I found online:

First, I rendered it using a brushing technique:

Then, I started working on a vector render using PS's pen tool:

Now, per the discussion in the SB, the reason that the pen tool is so awesome is because it produces vector graphics that can be resized both up and down with no loss in quality - great for projects that may be used in both digital and paper media (which is the end goal for this lotus). In addition, it's very easily tweakable (more so than a brush technique), and also gives very nice crisp lines with little effort. The downside is that making your end product look somewhat realistic is a painstaking task, since you rarely see such crisp lines and textureless areas of color in real objects. Great for media design, though, and it's a pretty popular technique to render realistic objects using vector in commercial media nowadays (at least, I've started to see the technique more and more often).
