No wonder there are so many conspiracy theories revolving around Drug companies when their ethics are... questionable to say the least...

Indeed. But then if we went into that this topic'd be locked. Conspiracy theories my arse.

So, what, you reckon that the drug companies are doing this for extra profits? I dunno, that seems unlikely, however the rate at which they came up with new drugs that will aparentely work is astonishing to say the least.

Hmm, actually I think I remember seeing a report (in a serious news magazine on a serious TV channel - obviously it was on shortly after midnight) about one particular representative of one particular company (can't remember which one, but it was the one that makes that Tamiflu stuff - Bayer??) deliberately planting manipulated briefings and grossly exaggerated statistics on various newspapers. The newspapers basically just printed what he had written without bothering to check - because they were no experts, obviously. That was several months ago. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's one big scare by the drug companies and the media, but they are certainly the two parties that benefit most from turning this into a big news item. The danger may very well be real, but they're playing on people's fears because it suits them instead of trying to remain calm. I mean, if there's nothing we can actually do about it, what's the use in panicking?

Hasty edit: Eek! A pigeon has just landed on my windowsill. Run AWAAAAYYY!

Well obviously, A.J, if we panic the crisis will be over quicker or something. Anyway, there's a tree full of birds in my back garden and I'm scared stiff and typing in my room (thankfully the room at the front of the ground floor.

I'd burn it down, but then a feather'd go in my mouth and I'd catch it and die too!

It's Roche and their profits already skyrocketed, not to mention that Tamiflu can't actually heal H5N1's possible mutated version, I mean how can there be a medicine out  for a disease that basically doesn't exist  :P  because when H5N1 will mix with some type of normal humans flu and mutate who knows what it's structure will be, and that's what the danger is...
H5N1 in this form isn't such a danger for humans, unless you really like birds, it's more of a danger of mutating that experts are worried about...

Well yeah, but that's the point. I think that what they've started making are drugs that might work in the future.

Still, nice one to the people selling the drugs on eBay. They're going to be raking the money in.

Well yeah not surprised if the drug companies using fear mongering techniques on the populous and unfortuantely some people will buy into it and thus it just erupts from there. So people selling drugs on ebay eh, don't know if I trust to buy drugs like that.

JoJo'd be hanging from a lamp-post if he was selling bad vaccine!

But then he didn't use the internet to sell Ambrosia (although delicious, I dunno that it'd help with the plague).

Not a bloody chance. Not even if I had a 0.1% chance of survival would I buy medicine on the internet.

Aye, and custard that's only slightly poorer than Bird's Eye (tinned, natch). Excellent!
