King's X - Gretchen Goes to Nebraska This was the first CD I heard from this group, that many people say are an underrated band that never got the success they deserved, which after listening to this album and another of theirs, I can see it is a damn shame. This is only their 2nd album, but its got some killer cuts, its a sort of conceptual album, that I have no real idea about, but its just superb all around.

King's X - Ogre Tones Currently this is the last album the band has put out, but their latest album will be coming out in the fall I believe, really enjoyed this record, much different than the album I posted earlier, wells considering that Gretchen came out in 1989 and this one in 2005, still the band sounds as strong as ever and the songs are really great. The band is even willing to experiment a bit with some songs, but all in all a great all around album.

Gossamer - Closure
I've been after this cd for a few months now, and it has been nearly impossible to get in the UK.  But I FINALLY got my hands on it.   ;)

The whole album is very dark and gothic-like.  The singer has a deep, mournful voice which really stands out on songs like Shell Full Of Sand, Run, Sweetest Misery, and Sin Again.

If you like Mission, Sisters Of Mercy etc, you will probably like Gossamer.   :P

King's X - Dogman Surprise, surprise another album by these guys, what can I say, they are a fantastic underrated group and this album is considered to be one of their best. Released in 1994, the interesting thing about this album is that it came in 4 different colours. Green, Red, Blue and Yellow, google the name of the album and you'll see what I mean, nothing spectacular but unique nevertheless, its a shame that there is not really much else from these guys around here to buy, but will definitely be scouring amazon for some more of their material.

Amorphis - Silent Waters

Do I need to say more? :P I recommend. A little different to the previous ones, but still very Amorphis-ish!

Heaven and Hell: Live From Radio City Music Hall DVD Been anticipating this dvd since March, when I found out they were recording their last show on their first leg which went across Canada and ended in New York City.

I'm so glad I attended the concert back on March 13th, and by the time the New York City Show had come, the guys had pretty much settled in and put on a damn good show. Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are all in top form in this concert, its like they have been playing for many many years, everyone is a star at this show, from Dio who still sounds amazing, Tony, for his blistering guitar playing and all around greatness, Geezer and his solidness at Bass and Vinny pounding away the drums.

A must pick up for any fan of metal/sabbath/dio, just amazing.

The Essential Alice in Chains - Something really different from my usual norm of music. This has been a band I knew a little about back in the day but never really explored beyond that, it was just chance that I stumbled upon a few tracks recently by them and I was hooked, so I picked up the 2 disc essential Alice in Chains and wow its just awesome all around. Besides the fact that this is recognized by a lot of Alice in Chains fan as being the complation album to own, just loving the material. While Alice in Chains are recognized as a Grunge band, they were one of the few that really had a different style, more heavier with some of the music, but still retaining much of what made them who they are. Really enjoying the material and glad I finally am listening to this band, next band from that era I will be checking out, Soundgarden.

Tarot - Crows Fly Back
This band is fronted by Marco Hietala, who is also in Nightwish.  I wanted to hear more of his stuff, so I got this album.  There's some awesome stuff on here.  It's amazing how Marco can sound so raw and deep in one song, then so tender in another song.  Excellent.   Posted Image

Queensryche- Sign of the Times (Best of Collection) 2 Disc - Wells its been a long while since I bought anything from these guys, but their former label recently came out with another "best of" collection. This time around there is a one disc and two disc edition. The one disc is just a best of collection, while the more pricer two disc edition contains the best of collection and a 2nd disc of demos, unreleased tracks, and a whole new track written by their former guitarist Chris Degarmo called Justified, mostly picked this up just to hear the demos and such morethan the best of stuff.
