Well after a kind of bad day, felt it was necessary to buy some music to cheer me up.

Dream Theater- Metropolis 2000 Scenes from New York This was the dvd I wanted on Saturday but unfortuantely the place where I went didn't have it, so went to another place down the street and was thinking I doubt they have it, but I'll check, but in the end they did. :P Paid a couple more bucks than if it would have been at the other place, but I have it now and very happy. :P The dvd shows the entire scenes from a memory album live in new york obviously with some cool bonus features like change of seasons a 24 min song that is just. :max:

Symphony X- V Been meaning to pick up a symphony X cd for quite awhile so decided today to pick this one up as I have heard good things about it, and so far 3 tracks in I'm liking it. :ok:

http://www.last.fm/user/DeathDude/Upcoming Concerts will be attending, 5/10/08: Dream Theater, 5/12/08: Gigantour, 5/16/08: Nightwish, 5/27/08: Rush, 6/5/08 and 6/6/08: Iron Maiden, 7/27/08: Judas Priest,

Nice pickups once again DD . The DT DVD is a real treat to watch, I'm sure you'll enjoy the commentary track. I'm suprised you picked up V, that is their most 'inaccessible' album. Almost too prog for its own good. Still a great album but definately one that needs to grow on ya. :max:

Well I just finished watching the Dream Theater commentary on the Images and Words DVD, hilarious stuff   those guys are such a blast to hear them reflecting on all that happened during the tour and during the concert classicness.

As for the sympothy x cd actually gotten quite a few recommendations around the metal community so that's why I picked it up, and they hardly sell any sympothy x stuff around here which is a bummer :P but after listening to it 2 times around I really think it's quite wicked, very epic sounding. :max:

Not a movie, but a series. I recently (accidently) bought the 1964 version of "The Outer Limits" (there were two newer series, I believe).
At first I was inclined to return the angst-riddled cold-war era series... but then after viewing two episodes I grew fond of it, despite the bad special effects (even for 1964).
However the cold-war setting is apparent at all times.

Alien: "what is... war?"
Human: "War, conflict, H-bomb, nuclear-fallout"

or:

An astronaut flies through a time-warp and ends up in the future, where earth is one big desert. He finds a mutated human and asks him:
"What happened? Hydrogenwar!?"

Well was tempted again to buy another cd today, this should be my last one for a long while I hope. :max:

Symphony X- The Odyssey, if there is one album to get from these guys this is the one that pretty much every fan of the band recommends and I've heard some tracks off of the album, including the title epic 24 min track that's based on yup Homer's Odyssey.

@Stroggy - Great show, I love the classic Outer Limits shows. You should check out some of the new Outer Limits seasons, some very intelligent stories in the pack.

@DeathDude - The Odyssey is a powerhouse album, one of the best prog-metal records ever. Rivals the best Dream Theater.

I know, I actually thought I was buying the new series. The old series are good, but the new series always had a wicked twist at the end... most notably in episodes such as "Quality of Mercy."
Still... the old ones are good too, and not quite as cheesy as I had imagined a 1960's Sci-fi series to be.

Is it my soul?
Is it that glimpse of light? I never forget to expect.
Or is it you? Some kind of angel.
That keeps me in waiting forever?

Through the selling of some old college books, procured some cash to buy a new album that I've been wanting for awhile.

Liquid Tension Experiment 2- To hear these 4 guys jam, John Petrucci, Mike Portnay, Jordan Rudess, Tony Levin, just incredible how these guys come up with these songs, amazing. :)
