Incidentally, I agree with Stroggy about the positive and negatives for this, although there is a point to be made about having to go back a long way to recover from a mistake if you don't save often (which I think is what abi was referring to when he put the lack of resource collection down as a negative). If abi doesn't object, I'll rewrite it to clarify that meaning when I get to this review.

One of Abi's complaints was that the game was too hard and I reckon that if we did a guide people who found it a bit tricky could do a bit better.
It'd be nice to have one with a little mission information and a lot about tactics and also the units (such as strengths, weaknesses and a description of how to use them all). Information like when you got units and their abilities could go in this too - for example you get HOG Artillery from mission eight, but you only get their nuclear warheads on mission fifteen.

OTOH you can control single soldiers and there is a small resource element to it if you're into that.
I found it to be really simplified though and I hated that. For example, units don't really have special weapons any more, they just go into a different 'mode' or something. Bleh. Plus the artillery was rubbish. And it had stupid aliens.
Play GC1 first and if you find that really complex then buy GC2.
