Continuing on the theme of musicness, let's hear some choices of favourite bassists that hold a special place in your heart, uh yeah that's right.
Although I admit I'm no huge follower of bassists in the industry, just mainly singers and guitarists, if I was to throw out a choice it would be Eddie Jackson, underrated but he does a good job, well on with the show I say.

I'd have to say Joey DeMaio from Manowar, hands down. I don't think I've ever heard anyone play that fast on a bass.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

Somebody has to mention Flea, and it might as well be me. Tricky's album Blowback features some collaborations with the Chilis with some top quality bass lines.

I knew I just somehow knew someone would mention Flea.
But he does pump out some pretty good rifts.

Rifts? He's capable of such mad bassplaying that it causes rips in the space-time continuum if he's not careful?
anyone seen The Mighty Boosh? The episode The Hitcher has some brilliant dialogue about jazz-funk bass playing and that bloke out of Level 42.

That one who used to be in QOTSA that I forget the name of was truly excellent. Although he looked like the one from SOAD.

Nick Olivieri? He has a great tendency to end up naked on stage too, or wrapped only in clingfilm.

Wow... did he get just the right note when tearing the space/time continuum then?

Oh... Beef used that joke too...
The word is riffs if you must use it.

Nah I think I'll stick with my spelling, be unique.

Being unique is no defence to the law, especially the laws of musical spelling. I don't know who enforce the laws, but I reckon Jack White'd have a go.
Possibly.
