Any sort of hip hop/rap today in NA at least is overratted to the extreme imo, like 50 cent can't stand it.

*Cringes* nah thankfully and if it was I'd so switch the channel, actually I don't get MTV, us Canadians got our own music station called MuchMusic, that actually plays music oh snap. Unfortuantely they play mostly hiphop/rap, so they really should be called Muchrap music .

the problem is hip-hop sells... thats bad for you and me because:

1.you have to listen to it all day and dont like it
2.the more popular something becomes the stupider it gets... so i have to listen to a music genre i like that is being destroyed by dumbasses in the industry...

and believe me 50 cent is one of the best popular rappers right now. THAT is sad.

so when it comes down to it i really think im worse off... if you dont like hip-hop you can just say: "ugh hip-hop" and change the channel.

Yup well said that is very true it sells, sigh just look at the mtv music/video awards this past year half the acts were hiphop/rap and like Greenday was the only rock group there, only credible one I should say, but they won the most awards so I was happy to see that, yes they get overplayed way too much, although if they get overplaying and using the same material people will get tired, eventually us North Americans take our time unfortuantely with that Good thing I'm noticing is metal here is seeing a revival as people are seeing that the stuff they hear on the radio now a days isn't good, thank goodness all I can hope is it continues to grow.

Bummer man, yeah I can change the channel or just put on some Iron Maiden and rock out to them.

Linkin Park definitely, how they can put out two identical sounding albums and have people support em, boggles my mind.

Because they're amazingly populist is why they're popular. They sing about standard things and add an 'edge' to them (arguably) and hence all of the teenie kids are into them.

The same goes for Evanescence, but they're actually even more pretentious.

Sing about standard things, add an edge, I can name a heck of a whole bunch of better bands that do that and at least aren't corporate slackies like em . And what's up with all these bands being anti government, it's like the it thing to do now a days, yup let's diss government that'll give us support.

I guess they chose their managers better...
