Oh, sorry.  For some reason, I thought I WAS looking for 4x games.  

Is it a game featured on AB?

I'm going to guess Starcraft, even though it's slightly more than 10 years old.

It's just what you call 'quite new'. I'd say it's 'somewhat old' - but it's ageing very well

Hint: the game has a powerful narrative, and isn't so much about a military campaign.
Oh, and it's my personal favourite RTS game, and one of my all-time favourite games. Few games come this close to perfection. Just so you know

Barber's Adagio for Strings, specificly the vocal Agnus Dei part is one of two non-original pieces in the soundtrack. The other piece is a song performed by Yes. The rest is original for the game and somewhat ambient.
Oh, and the game features no humans. None at all. Although everyone does speak English, sounds human and one race somewhat resembles humans.

Finally, the game has beautifull backdrops.
