I was speaking in a general sense. like picked berries and potatoes or, if you stretch it, logs and compost. (in retrospect the question should have been along the lines of "is it, or has it ever been a plant"... )

gardens, but not throughout the year, and by far not all gardens.
shops, including supermarkets

is: solid, existing.
'ish: natural
"made out of" natural materials (but not artificial).
size: usually smaller than a human.
consists of only one part (itself).
can be used at different times of the year.
you wouldn't put things in it (note that this doesn't mean you physically can't)
specific things it isn't: bench, banana, apple.
