I was speaking in a general sense. like picked berries and potatoes or, if you stretch it, logs and compost. (in retrospect the question should have been along the lines of "is it, or has it ever been a plant"... )

would you expect a person who owns a garden to also own this?

what about a supermarket? (as opposed to it being found in dedicated specialist/hobbyist shops)

consists of only one part (itself).
can be used at different times of the year.
you wouldn't put things in it (note that this doesn't mean you physically can't)
specific things it isn't: bench, banana, apple.
