EDIT: Seeing this is going all over the place and people are stunned by my shrewdness, I'll give out two hints. If they aren't helpful and people still find themselves lost, I'll give out the answer (yeah, bummer, but this has been going on for a ridiculous number of pages).
Hint 1: It's not as much cable-like as it's wire-like.
Hint 2: As it is used by "putting something on it", it also has to be attached to something else in order to work.
