When I switched over to Gentoo from Windows XP I needed to find alternative software for my favorite Windows software. Since most of them are available to Windows as well I thought I'd post them here. Some of them are in my opinion better since they're more lightweight and use less system resources. If you're unhappy with some software, maybe you'll can find a replacement there.

Now that is a most excellent list with great alternatives, just checked it out and those programs for most of the products are really good ones too, like Open Office, definitely some ones I have to try myself, but still great list.

Anyway, I'd like to suggest Maxthon for all of you who like Internet Explorer, but miss the tab function of Firefox.

I also would like to suggest a pretty good audio player 1 by 1 Player, if you just want a small simple player to play your mp3's then this is the one for ya.

Ah, come on. It's not as bad as that. There aren't many regulars on AR at the moment, which obviously means fewers post/day, but it also means less spam and irrelevant posts. Personally I kind of like the pace of this forum, but I'm sure that the day will come, when this place really picks up and we start getting a lot more users. If you want more posts and such, I recommend you register at Abandonia, and post there a bit as well as here.

In the meantime, I think it's a bad idea to make posts like that in a random topic. That kind of thing is better suited for the shoutbox, IMO.

I never called ya a spammer, all I said was that your post was a spam post, which it is since we are not talking about AR being quiet in this topic, but about the link and the products that Mdag is sharing, so it's completely off topic in that sense, sorry to hear shoutbox isn't working for ya, but still if ya want to discuss the issue make a topic about it, not head into another and just go really off topic like that.

Open Office recently released version 2.0. It's now a serious alternative to MS Office. Especially if you're just a home user.

Yeah I read about that too in the paper here, should be interesting to see what happens, looks like a contender.
