OH HELL YES!

Sure, I have a real copy, and have done for many years. The original Discworld was my first ever Point & Click, and now that's my favourite genre.

But being able to play the game through ScummVM (it's a bit glitchy in XP) is a vey nice bonus.

If the games becomes freeware and unless the people at ScummVM doesn't host the actual files (which is unlikely) then I can provide them. I have the full CD version with speech and all.
Actually, I believe HOTU has the speech version, and the compression they've achieved is amazing. It's just over 100 MB, IIRC. :)
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

Which still translates to about 11 hours of download time on my computer, though.:)

To all those who haven't played it yet, a warning: most adventuregamers agree that, while this is a great adventuregame, it also has the most tedious of puzzles (since most of the situations are so silly, so are the solutions)
Just a friendly warning.

Well the puzzles ARE logical (in a Terry Pratchett kind of way). Still I don't think they're worse than those in Monkey Island 2. Can anybody say "monkey wrench" ?  :)

Let's not forget that Terry Pratchett is the man that posed his character with the conundrum of how to actually achieve a million to one chance and not a 999999 to one or a 1.000.001 to one chance (in the book that the game is kind of based on)

Ah, sorry to hear that. It's still worth it, IMO, although I'd probably use bittorrent for the download if I was you, since you can resume a stopped download with it (yeah, I now, you can do the same thing with most download managers, but in my experience HOTU does not work well with those).
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

Well if it works well in XP (hasn't played the game since I ran Win 98) then I say go for it, it's worth it. Or you can wait and pray that it becomes freeware and run it flawlessly in ScummVM  :)

If it comes out, I don't have the full version, but I can review it and take screens, as I have the no cd version from hotu. :)
Pi stinks, tastes horribles, and I hate it! But cake is good...

Does anybody have any news or an update regarding this wonderful concept?

(I'm hoping against hope that this is one of those things that doesn't fade away or get lost in the surf before it eventuates ;) )

Update

The latest news (as of 11th October 2005) is that the source code has been successfully located and we are now simply waiting for it to be sorted and sent to us.

This will hopefully happen... 'shortly'. :P
