So you're the one at the back of the picture, right?

At the back? You mean at the left, right?:)

Sorry about the spray, but that's because the picture was taken just as Sarah caught that crab. Something which hasn't happened to me yet, thank God - and this was in a race, actually. Amazingly enough we didn't get bumped, though (probably because the crew behind us was even worse). Ahem.[/boatie bore mode]

Being a very un-British, and a non-boater... I'm just going to assume that "catching a crab" means to hit the water with the oar at a strange angle, causing the rower to row off-time, and spray water all over the rowers behind her?

Please correct me if I'm being ignorant :)

I thought it meant she caught one of those little, red pincer animals :)

I thought it meant she hit the bottom of the lake :)
But Tai's guess sounds and looks to be more fitting. Looks like fun, though ;)

Close enough, but not quite.;) If you really want to know (yeah, right): "to catch a crab" means to fail to pull your blade out of the water on time, so it's pulled down, gets stuck and of course slows down the boat as it is dragged along. It happens when you're out of time, so it's usually considered a beginner's mistake. The spray in the picture is actually caused by Sarah's desperate attempt to retrieve her blade by lying down and passing it over her head.

All right, I'll stop now...;)

I believe that all Mr/Miss ARs should have a special talent/speech or whatever. Like they do in 'Mr/Miss World' (but not Mr/Miss Universe, obviously). A.J's got her boating skills and sense of humour, Tai's an artist and singer, Tom can cook good-looking dishes and sneak into people's houses and blow them up... hmm... I can do reviews and stuff. And sometimes keep morale up.

I'd like to rise to the challenge.  I've done some artwork and music in the past...though not much anymore.  This picture I'm posting had some contributions by another artist:  the little penguins.  Ardy Scott is brilliant at creating all kinds of creatures and we've done a few pictures together.

Urmm... you've had the benefits of private education? Although my mates still got better marks than you.

Urmm... You've got a name with spaces in it. Me and Beef foolishly ignored that opportunity. And you've also got a GCSE Business Studies thingummy. Certificate I imagine.

edits - Nice one wendy!

I like that penguin to the far left. He seems to be unaware of everything that happens around him, while singing la-dee-da-dee :)

I like the gull in the middle - he's clearly feeling nice and superior to the penguins because he can fly.

And I'm a fan of the shellfish on the far left - it looks superior in a kind of 'Bwahahaha I can live under the sea' way.

Nice pic, wendy! ;)

I'd like to rise to the challenge too. I sing a little and seemingly not bad. ;)
Some have claimed that I also have some literary talents. :)
