(with the original being the all time classic: Scorched earth)

Scorched 3D is a good guess, but you don't control a team as far as I know. It's not correct but still a good guess

(original should be worms, allthough I can't find any reference as to when it was made, between all of the buy links for newere games of the series.)

Wormux is correct! And the original is indeed Worms, made by Team 17 in 1995.

this game is allso a remake (well, were abandongamers, shoot us).
the game that it's based on was part of a series but had little to do with other games from it, except for gameworld and a little part of gameplay.

Oh, BTW, on topic of remakes, of all the games in the series only this one had a remake.

I am disapointed in you guys.

my next hint might be kind of missleading, so feel free to ignore it, but some might be helped by it:
the game has lots of references to creatures that are not like cows (and whoever says they are, will be emmidielty expeled from the games fan club), but noone gets to see them.

and you allso get to meet creatures that look like you classical grey aliens.

BTW, like in thousands of other games, in this one you have to save humanity.

the name of the original begins with "star" and ends with "trol"
while the remake is named after a certain race of aliens in the game.
