Nope. I guess the word adventure makes it lean towards that genre too much. It's actually a platformer with _some_ RPG elements.

Nope. (Is Penumbra a platformer?) Here are more obvious clues:
1. You play a robot.
2. You can levelup your weapons with shiny yellow triangles.
3. The main villain is a doctor.
4. You fight a recurring boss that looks like a toaster.
5. Most of the game takes place in a cave inside a floating island.

I feel almost ashamed to partially recognizing this game... Dunno what it is, not to mention I wouldn't admit even if I knew it.

Underground part is kind of a red herring, although it helps with the name.
