This film stars a very well known actor and a very well known mistress (in the film).
Now that's an immensely helpful clue. Really helps to narrow it down...

Sorry, I was being vague on purpose in case Frodo wanted to go.
And it actually is once you guys get it :ok:

This film also helped to booster / kick start the career of a well known band, particuarily one song.

"The Graduate"? I don't know about any plastic, and I don't know if Simon & Garfunkel got a much needed boost, but "Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson...."
I met a goldfish who remembered meeting me before, but I had forgotten about that.

That's gotta be correct. It's got the "I've got one word to say to you. Plastics." scene.
What is it about a beautiful sunny afternoon, with the birds singing and the wind rustling through the leaves, that makes you want to get drunk?

Hmm, as far as I know they were already quite well-known by 1967...:ok:

I found that clue weird, too. They had released at least 2 albums before that: Sounds of Silence, which was a huge hit and Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme which is IMHO their second best album. Might've been more, I can't bother to check but those I remember.

It might have boosted the career, I don't really know, but it really didn't kick start it. But anyway, with the "Plastics"-clue I don't think it can be any other movie.

So, am I right, or what?

If I'm right, then here's another one:

A man accidentially kills his toddler son and ends up as a divorced bum and drunkard. From thereon out it all goes downhill, both with him, his new love who's also a bum and a drunkard and an odd third bum and drunkard.
I met a goldfish who remembered meeting me before, but I had forgotten about that.

I reckon he just mean's he's got an odd third bum. Makes me wonder what's NOT odd about the second one :ok:

Oh, a hint:

The two main characters are played by two very well known actors, actually one actor and one actress. The third character is played by someone who dabble in acting when he's not doing what he's most famous for, music.
