Well, the subject s actually Media or Media studies or something along those lines. I call it English Media as that was my GCSE course and it was also how my exam's were labelled. Alongside English Literature.

As for trying out an extra as level, I've sat in on a-level classes since last year hehe. The staff really push people to explore subjects before they make a concrete decision. I think, I ticked one box too many and I asked how many I'd be doing, how many I would drop after AS etc. The impression I got was that it was pretty much 'try before you buy' for the first few weeks, before anything will be set into stone. I'm note sure exactly how this is going to work, if I'll have full timetable for five lessons, or four lessons and then 'sit-ins' on the fifth subject. It is however a pretty common thing this year at my sixth form and I'm not the only one doing it. Oh, and I forgot to add all candidates at my Sixth Form also do critical thinking. Not sure if that's an A-Level or not..

Everything will work out, as long as I keep my head down and do some work. I just gotta get myself in the right mindset, and I'm half-way there already.

What's the worst that can happen? I fail a subject or two but spend two years in a good environment with new faces :P I'm looking forward to this ;)

Thankies for the well wishes ;)

What's MA application? I've played enough MMORPG'S in my time to imagine you running around in a Martial Artist costume kicking *money-maker* and taking names. Somehow, I don't think that's what you was reffering to though :P

Is it a university level qualification? (I'm sure I've heard about all this stuffs before, but my memory is poop!)

Where would you be flying out to?

What's your plans if you don't do the Martial Artist *money-maker* kicking course? :P

..let's keep this tumbleweed blowing!

Actually it's just a boring old Master of Arts, but Master of Martial Arts doesn't sound too bad either.;)
So basically yes, it's a university level qualification. In order to do a PhD, I'll have to do a one-year MA first. A few things didn't work out exactly as planned for me this year, though, so I missed the application deadlines for 2007, but the York admissions people were surprisingly nice and told me they'd still consider my application for this year. So I've sent them all my stuff (references, samples of written work, personal statement, degree certificate, etc.), but unfortunately I haven't heard from them yet and I'm beginning to get a little nervous...

York, of course.:P - No, it's Manchester, actually, which seems to be a bit tricky to get to from here.

If they don't accept me, I'll have to take a gap year, spend some time working, brushing up on Latin and French (plus possibly learning Italian) and apply to a bunch of universities for MA courses starting in 2008.

I think I'd be fine with either option, really, it's just driving me mad that I still don't know which one it's going to be. Argh! :P

I booked my flight this afternoon, so at least that bit is settled, but I'm still waiting for my welcome package thingie to arrive so I'll find out whether I've actually got a place to stay or not. 'tis all very exciting.;)
