Not as messed up as "Weissenegger" would be I suppose...

I love A Clockwork Orange - the Steeler's Wheel/ear removal scene from Pulp Fiction is a huge ripoff of the rape scene at the start of ACO. The brainwashing bits when they're "treating" him are simply amazing. It has to be Kubrik's finest hour.
that scene was in was in resevoir dogs wasnt it?

I dont like Clockwork Orange... i thought it was boring...no it doesn't have anything to do with "me not understanding it" and my ex-girlfriend said that in the book there is a reason why its called clockwork orange that they kinda left out of the movie (that drug they use on him is called CO i think)

if you want to see some good (comedy)-splatter watch either "Premutos" or "Violent Shi*"  :)

i guess you can only really watch them in german to think they are funny so....uh...yeah

I'm going to have to vote for Boondock Saints. It's something like Snatch, only with much better humor and plot.

I was really disappointed in Hitchhiker's Guide... Some parts were cool beyond words, but it mostly just didn't really live up to the actual story... I think they were trying waaay too hard in some places.

Oh yeah hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy really tried too hard to be a funny movie or whatever the heck they were aiming for, actually funny story well not really me and my friends went to the movie and about half way through they ended up evacuating the theatre, so we didn't get to finish the movie  :) turns out later on it was a gas leak of all things, the thing was it wasn't even near the theatre, sigh didn't even get a refund back.

Good movies Pirates I thought was really good can't wait for the sequel.

I've found that I dislike many modern movies, as a lot of them seem to be built on hype.  There aren't any thespians these days, either; has anyone ever noticed that a lot of actors nowadays are always cast as characters similar to other characters that actor has played?

Anyway, some of my favorite movies include The Godfather (part 1 only), The Maltese Falcon, On the Waterfront, Taxi Driver, In the Heat of the Night, Mississippi Burning, Hang 'em High, The Man who Shot Liberty Valance, The Gambler series, and Casablanca.

I'm going to get Dirty Harry and Sudden Impact next week when I go to the library.  I've heard they were good movies.

True, but then again there have been those sort of actors ever since the earliest days of film. What about Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks or Laurel and Hardy (or that dreadful little brat Shirley Temple)?
It also has a lot to do with what the audience wants and expects; there's Jimmy Stewart, for example: apart from very few exceptions (most notably the westerns), he always had to play the upright honest American lad, until he must have been fairly sick of it. Basil Rathbone who starred in all those Sherlock Holmes films even became seriously depressed, because he wasn't being offered any non-Holmes parts any more.
Sometimes that sort of thing is rather sad, actually. Patrick Stewart, for example, is a decent Shakespeare actor, but people only come for the odd experience of seeing Captain Picard play Shakespeare.

Ah, yes, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance! I really ought to see that again...

Rick Wakeman (to tie 2 parts of this conversation together neatly) gets typecast a lot. And Hugh Grant! Blech!

I gotta say that I didn't really like that one, although to be fair I didn't really like Gladiator, either. I think Ridley Scott has slipped a lot lately. I did enjoy Kingdom of Heaven, and I definitely find it watchable, but I wouldn't call it good. My main issues with the movie are Orlando Bloom and the gross historical inaccuracies.

@Tom: I haven't seen Adam's Æbler yet, but to be honest I'm getting a little tired of the stream of (IMO) similar Danish films that have been coming out these past years. It really shows that the dialogs in all those movies are written by the same guys. Adam's Æbler does look pretty good, though, and I will have to watch it soon. ;)

Edit :
@Tai: I agree completely about HGTTG. It's good in some places but mostly it just falls through. I liked the BBC miniseries, though, not to mention the radio show.  :)

If I have to recommend a movie, it would have to be my all time favourite (obviously ;)), Fearless Vampire Killers, by Roman Polanski. It's simply brilliant. excellent acting, excellent use of humour and excellent setting make for a truly excellent film. Just be absolutely, one hundred percent sure that you watch the original version, and not the American cut. I don't think any other movie has ever  been recut that badly.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

You really have to :)

Two other excellent films are Los Ríos de color Purpura (or the Crimson Rivers) starring Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel in the lead roles, and The Scorpion King starring Chin Kar-lok, Won Jin and Lar Kar-leung.

Won Jin is incredible. It seems his legs can do whatever he wishes of them, looking at him is just... whoah! Screw Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee! Next to Won Jin none of them have any body-control ;)

Here is a litte movie clip starring Kim Won Jin from the movie Women on the Run
Too bad about the lightning, but anyone who knows a little about martial arts and kicking will appreciate his kicks ;)

Yeah, Blinkende Lygter is pretty good. I especially like Ole Thestrup in it. You can really tell that he used to be a raving alcoholic. :) He once got so drunk on a plane that it had to make an emergency landing in Canada. ;)

I think that's when he realised he had an alcohol problem...

Anyway, have you seen any of the Pusher movies? They are pretty rough, and very realistic. Many of the parts in the movies are played by people from that "scene", so to speak. They're very good, though, IMO.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

Ole Thestrup, is that the hunter guy? That Arne was always hanging out with?

It was so funny when they were reading the poem by "Ove" Ditlevsen  ;)

Søren Pilmark is in my opinion VERY cool!!
I just found out on IMDB that the guy who plays Stefan is also in Adams Æbler!!
I must find it....  :)
