Have any of you guys read the Scratchware Manifesto at HOTU? I like it a lot, but would be interested in what you have to say about it. It says at the bottom that everyone is allowed to modify it to suit their needs and spread it as they please, so I propose that we put it up on AR (we can possibly modify it, if their is something you guys don't like, or if you feel something is missing). It seems perfect for a site like AR, since it kind of indicates that scratchware games will usually be freeware (well, actually it says that scratchware games should be sold at paperback prices, but this can be modified), and it seems to sum up the intentions usually behind most freeware games (such as more innovation and out-of-the-box thinking rather than the same old ideas with shinier graphics).
Anyway, what do you think?

Whoah.
That is incredibly crazy, cool, inspirational, and depressing all rolled into one.
I totally agree, but I think in some places it's presented a bit too much like foaming-at-the-mouth propaganda for me... of course, considering it's imitating the Cyberpunk Manifesto, not hugely surprising. Probably more than a bit of the tongue-in-cheek involved in the writing of that piece, hehe.

It's definitley a very interesting read on the state of the industry today, yes it does go a little overboard at some places, but honestly it does do an effective job of telling the story, in regards to games, very nice.

I must admit that I rather like that part. Of course, I'm to be considered as belonging to the left of the left, so I suppose it wouldn't be surprising that I rather like references to Marx.
If people want, I guess that part could be rewritten or omitted should the document be put on AR, but I for one like it and would prefer it stays.
I'm glad you like the document as a whole, though. I wish I'd seen it sooner, since it's been there for about five years, but it's not always easy finding your way around HOTU's layout, and I pretty much stumbled on it by chance.
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.
