The ideal would be to work for oneself, really.  But doing what?   That's the sticking point.

I  found that bosses in private industry were not the easiest people to work for, but in government jobs it was a different story.  Ironically, those with authority in the Government sector seem to have little power to bully or become overbearing as you could report them in a flash and they'd then become answerable to their superior.  Everyone in Government jobs has a boss over them.   Some of the nicest people I've known were the heads of the different sections.  The manager of the International Exchange were I once worked resembled a Bottichelli angel...he was very young for so much responsibiliity and chaming and fascinating.  I developed a crush...but, alas, he was gay.  :bleh:   I ended up writing what I thought was a terrific (short) story about my time there...so I'll always have that as a reminder.

To be honest, that day sounds like a case of Karma urging somebody to do their best more, to treat others well and to be the best person they can be. The more somebody faulters in that, the heavier those urgings get. If somebody treats people well and is the best person they can be, it'll still give them crap now and then, but to a far lesser extend. At least that's what I've understood from the explanation given to me 'bout it from a Hindu friend.

DakaSha:if you go into a kindergarden and give all the kids rubber schlongs they will prob just hit each other over the head with them
DakaSha:and you have a class of little kids hitting eachother with rubber dongs which must be quite funny (also Picklweasel knight I am)

Well, I probably shouldn't have complained, I was just exhausted, and my entire week's been pretty much like that. I'm certain it will be better soon, and there's a high probability I'll get that other job. I felt slightly bad about applying for it, since they're hiring next month, and my supervising assistant will be out recovering from surgery for a month or so at that time... but the assistant in the office across the hall from our office told me I shouldn't even worry about it.

Actually, she said that they couldn't pay her enough to work in my office, and that my boss has a habit of firing people before six months is up so that they can't collect unemployment from being fired. Which really, is pretty evil.

@Daka: I know I didn't do that well of a job... how could I, when my boss sabotaged the task he gave me? That's why I warned the supervising assistant that it was probably not in the correct order. :bleh: The sabotage-then-scream-about-me bit was what was so freaking agitating.

@Tiki: Interesting. I guess you're suggesting that I don't treat people well. I try to treat people as well as I can, even if they don't treat me well (I have a harder time with it if they don't treat my friends well), but I am only human, and I have my limits. "Karma" goes both ways, you know. You can only be so nice to someone when they constantly attack you. I'm actually very nice to the people in my office.

Thanks for wishing me good luck, everyone :D  I'm really excited about the possible new job, they're VERY good at what they do, and the least experienced assistant there loves it. She says her boss is very experienced, focuses on training, and that everyone shares the work equally, nobody is too low to copy their own files, or answer the phones, and they wouldn't treat anyone like that.

When I say they're very good at what they do, it takes my office until the day before closing to issue lender-required docs (which is something I'm not "allowed" to do), whereas it takes their office the day after receiving the order to issue them, which is how it's supposed to be.

I kinda meant that karma as for your boss, but anyways... people that get "constantly attacked" should see why, and see if it's not at least partially due to their own actions. In general, people're just too lazy to do something like that without reason.

Anyways, guess I should've added this to my previous post, but g'luck with the job you're looking for. Working under a boss that respects you's alot less nerve-wrecking than under a boss like you're under now. Might've been misunderstood from before, but I do mean that you deserve a good boss (which's why I wish you're getting that new job :bleh: )
