What is systembolaget? :)
150 years ago the government decided that too many were dying due to alcohol so they   created Systembolaget, which is basically the only company with a license to sell alcoholic beverages stronger than 3.5% in Sweden. Systembolaget is owned by the government. The liquor is heavily taxed, to cover the free healthcare we have in Sweden. There are lots of people who don't like it this way and they would prefer if there wasn't a need for a license to sell alcohol. I for one like it this way. I'm not a heavy drinker so I don't mind the extra price tag. In return I can drink quality beer, whisky, wine (ex. Amarone) etc. The different brands of Systembolaget (over 6000 to choose between), kind of makes it unique in world (or at least that's what I'm told). If what you're looking for isn't on any shelf in the store, you can order it and it won't cost any extra. I like it. As it is now one beer costs from $1 (33cl cheap beer) to $20 (75cl exclusive specially imported bla bla bla). Cheapest whisky (75cl) costs $25 (ex. Mór) and the most expensive costs $500 (ex. 30 yrs Macallan). And so on...

Systembolaget in Sweden and Alko in Finland are government owned alcohol drink monopolies. In common stores it's legal to sell mild drinks with less than (out of memory) 5.5% alcohol. That's in Finland. In Sweden - if I've understood correctly - they have bit stricter rules.

Well Tai, giggle as much as you want, but as I know that you're interested in almost everything and hardworking in everything, try to pronounce Alkoholiliike [alcoholstore :) ], as it was originally called. ;)

Hmm makes me wonder if that was kinda how it was like here 13 years ago if it was a similar system, although I know people certainly enjoy the private liquor stores now, my friend who goes out a lot will be the first to praise it. :)

Yes, supposedly it's under 18, or at least that's what the law says, but 13 year olds can buy alcohol without any problems(especially beer), in smaller shops...

Well, in Finland age limits are 18 (up to 20%) and 20 (to stronger), but I remember buying beer when I was 15 and strong ones when I was 18, but I've always looked older that I am...
