Uhh... now I'm confused. What did I do now? Or what did I really do last time?
If describing the gameplay as pressing the End Turn button over and over again until something (bad?) happens made you want to play it that much, go ahead.

What is it about a beautiful sunny afternoon, with the birds singing and the wind rustling through the leaves, that makes you want to get drunk?

Well many people do so in their life. Don't doing anything but pushing the button somewhere until something happens.
MOO3 is a metaphor of life! It is the art!
And I didn't have to eat all those mushrooms yesterday!

Well, in case of Star Control II, I think it is reasonable. Altough if you played MOO2, it would be the other way around.
I know I'm kind of comparing apples with oranges, but I think the fact that SC II is more colourfull than MOO2 is the reason that SC2 appears to be somewhat... younger.
When I think MOO2 I think grey aliens, dark interface, dark green letters.
SC2, on the other hand, brings up slightly more whacky images (such as space-commander Fwiffo)
Ah well, I shall just go and try MOO2 out again, I've never played that game as I should have.

Well generally, the remake UrQuan Masters are probably the best freeware out there. MOO2 doesn't at all have grey aliens but it does have serious atmosphere- no hilarious characters such as in SC2.
However, these two games in theory are completely different. If you want a masterpiece of tactic, MOO is a game to go. If you wish a story-driven exploration game, SC should be your pick.

I have been playing both games for a few hours now MOO2 and SC2 and I must say that, whereas I felt right at home again in SC2 and it's aliens, it took me a bit of time to get used to the races in MOO2.
Ah well, as I said, perhaps it's just me.

Master of Orion 3- I will be honest, I couldn't get it. Not that I tried too much, but it is not even half as great as MOO2.
MOO2 is a great game. No, MOO1 is a great game, MOO2 is even better. MOO3 was fun for the 15 minutes you were able to lie to yourself that it must be a good game as it is Master of Orion after all.
Preach it! Every time the words "Master" and "Orion" are even uttered near each other, a little bit of my central nervous system just shuts down from the flash back of being hunched over my 8000lb 14" screen, squinting at little pixelated foes.
The original MOO was so good. A little bit of me died in disappointment with each successive release though.
Doesn't Stardock have a similar conquer the whole universe while building massive fleets and supporting perfect societies kind of game? I'm afraid to even check for fear of awakening from a fugue state days from now in the dark still clicking at an unresponsive mouse b/c my power has been turned off.
