That's just crazy. Is it not enough to assassinate people by shooting them or blowing them up anymore, we have to plan to behead them to make a point?

Who ever thought that Canada would be the place for terrorists to up the ante a notch?

But what the heck did the Stephen Harper ever do to anyone?

Anyway, glad they didn't succeed... it would have been a mess.

Indeed this has been all over the news the past while, it's crazy 3 tonnes of explosives they had the damage this group of individuals could have done is crazy, and geez parliament and taking hostages, even against the pm holy.

One theory that is being mentioned around is that the reason that this group had been planning something on this scale was because of Canada's involvement in Afghanistan the last 5 years and continued pledge to stay on for longer too, essentially the role the country is playing there has made us a target to terrorist groups, also the minister of national of national security Stockwell Day said essentially it means now that Canada is going to have to come to the realization that we have to be even more careful and now our potential targets.

But yeah glad they caught these guys, it could have been total chaos had they succeeded and glad they didn't.

What I find strange is that I live in Canada and that I never even heard of that...  

Even if I would have missed it somehow, you would think someone, anyone (especially since I'm a saleman, I talk to a lot of people) would have said something about it... Sounds like a scam.

Didn't it also happen in Germany? Some women were stopped in going to Iraq and blowing themselves up?

One woman. And all she really did was try and get how-to-be-a-suicide-bomber info off the internet through chatrooms and the like.

No? I think there was like a video that suicide bombers make before they blow themselves up, and there she said goodbye to her family, glory to Alah etc. And then she got arrested on her way to Iraq...
Also another woman succeded in the suicide bombing attempt and she killed 6 people, I think she was also from Germany...

I think you missed out step 0: Buy some explosives at your local supermarket (remember: what you pay is what you get!).

But it is ridiculously easy to buy large amounts of explosives, if you have the license, and getting license isn't that hard actually. I don't understand how come some terrorists don't see the easy way. Instead they go on experimenting with domestic chemicals or fertilizers and blow themselves up (if they succeed even on that). Even I could build a bomb and cause destruction, but why on earth would I? Most difficult part is actually detonation on right moment, especially if using advanced electronics. Something I don't understand is why to rely on complex detonation system, when WW2 era equipment would do the same. Assuming you don't have to smuggle explosives or detonators through surveillance.

But yeah now the paper over here is mentioning that indeed after their court date what has been revealed so far by the prosecution, the plan had been go and take parliament hostage, demand that Canada remove it's troops from Afghanistan and free muslim prisoners, and if the demands were not met, behead the prime minister and other hostages as well, and also to storm the cbc building in ottawa to broadcast their message (The CBC over here is essentially run by the canadian government and it reaches every household that has a tv)

As well apparently they were in the advanced stages of using a truck as a bomb, to destroy a significant target as well open gun fire in a public place.

Also the whole explosive things could have been chaotic, they had been planning getting 3 tonnes of explosives, they have compared the Oklahoma city bombing in 1995 when Terry Mcvay, only used 1 tonne to kill 155 people, so with 3 holy.

Oh and Stephen Harper had this to say about the alleged death threats, brushly it off lightly.

"I can live with all these threats as long as they don't come from my caucus," he told reporters
