Yeah I was thinking going to miss the techniques now that on level 7. :(

But it's a warp you don't pass up a warp, not proper gaming rules or something. :P

But I didn't even realise I was skipping levels until I suddently ended up on level 6.:( Oh well, I suppose that means I'll have to go back to level 4...

Was close to finishing level 4 anyway so going to go back to level 5 rather learn the techniques then jump straight into the fire that level 7 probably is.

I guess you don't have to go back, but just keep in mind that it may be a lot more difficult to deal with than if you had the experience from the previous levels.

Beef is right - it's not exactly linear in difficulty, but what does happen is that new techniques are introduced in each level that will help in later levels, which is done in a linear fashion.

Level 5 = dealing with creatures en masse (especially eyeballs and bats). It really teaches you how the creatures react to you, especially bats, which can be tricky.

Level 6 = dealing with creatures in very limited spaces and additional puzzle elements.  Teaches you to deal with a greater combination of elements.

Level 5 seemed a lot harder than level 6, but I think it would have seemed worse if I had skipped 5 and gone to 6. If I had skipped and gone to 7, I can think of a couple rooms that would have been nightmarish - and forget level 8 altogether, unless you can find another warp.

I think the warps are more for people who have already played the game, and want to challenge themselves to get to the end as quickly as possible. I'm sure it's possible for a first-time player to use the warps and get to the end, but I also think it would be a lot more frustrating overall.

So THAT'S why the stupid living tar annoys me so much.

I accidently skipped to level 6 or 7 (can't remember which)

This muck sounds very interesting and somewhat mysterious. :( More worries it seems.

Hmm, I'm having some problems with this room:
I can get rid of the snake easily enough, but how do I get the breeding roach out of that room?:( I can get it to move left and right, but not down.

yes. say what you want but "asking for advice" in a puzzle game is flat out cheating.. only said it to tease you though :(

Well, who cares? I'm not taking part in some puzzle-solving competition, I'm doing this for fun. And it sort of ceases to be fun after you've tried and failed a few dozen times and you STILL can't figure out what you're doing wrong.
