That is one evil room, but still not as evil as level 13

The trick to that one is to

You can see which doors an orb affects more easily by hitting it a few times and watching the lightning thingies.

Well, I'm going to have to probably make a chart, and figure out which switches toggle which gates, which switches open which gates, and which switches close which gates.

Luckily, not all of them have to be open to finish the room, just the right ones - but that's a pain in the butt in and of itself.

Cough cough, okay maybe not, but still dreading when I get to that one.

Okay, I spent about thirty minutes to make a chart for that room I posted above. If anyone gets there later and needs some assistance, I can transfer my scribble to a legible format. I could also streamline the chart info into a step-by-step walkthrough, but the chart works fine, and is far less of a total spoon-fed spoiler.

Oh, and "chart" is probably a bit of an exaggeration - it's more like a key of what switches do what, with a visual guide for gate numbers, since they're not really laid out nicely.

Talking of walkthroughs: would the two of you consider writing a playing guide by any chance?

The DROD forums are chock full of advice for players and architects, but they're down at the minute - should be back up before too long with any luck.

If you mean the exit to level 5, it's located at Twice South, Twice East.

No, I mean level 5. I went from level 4 to level 6, and the only other exits I could find led to level 1 and level 7. Oh well. Level 6 is looking OK so far...
Edit: Ah, so it's in another screen, then. Still strange. Did I take a shortcut?

I don't know about writing a guide - I am never going to play level 8 again if I can help it

I suppose I could write techniques and solutions... and I guess level 8 requires a stupid amount of precision, so I probably did find the best way possible to complete the rooms, not sure about that, though.

I think level 8 definitely requires some kind of guide, actually. I really think many people would just quit there.

It's great that the forums have help when they're up, but they're not up now, I forced myself to suffer through it without help, and we have a few people playing now who might get there and not have any help.

So I guess I don't mind writing a rough guide for at least level 8, if people think it should be done.

Think it would be useful for the gamers not at level 8 yet, especially with the shocking tales hearing so far.

edit: Just found the secret room aha very cool find AJ.

I think I was so intent on figuring out the mimic puzzle, I didn't even notice the passage  



Truth be told, though, I'm not so sure skipping levels is an altogether good thing - going through the puzzles teaches you techniques that really help in later levels.
