Ok, so I was thinking last night (for some reason) that we needed a great albums topic - somewhere to discuss those albums that are a joy to listen to from start to finish, where each track is outstanding and there's no filler in sight - albums most artists would love to be able to call a "Best Of" (which don't qualify, naturally).

My nominations would have to be *looks through mp3s*:

A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step and probably Mer de Noms too.
Air's Moon Safari
Anathema's a natural disaster
At the Drive-In's Relationship of Command
Auf der Maur's eponymous album
Avalanches' Since I Left You
Eels' Beautiful Freak
The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Foo Fighters' The Colour and the Shape
Garbage's Version 2.0
Goldfrapp's Black Cherry (their other 2 albums coming very close)
Idlewild's 100 broken windows
Incubus' S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
Jurassic 5's LP
Led Zeppelin 4
Lemon Jelly's Lost Horizons
Massive Attack's blue lines
Morcheeba's The Antidote
Muse's Showbiz
My Vitriol's finelines
Placebo's Placebo (Without You I'm Nothing comes close)
The Propellerheads' Decksanddrumsandrockandroll
Royksopp's Melody AM
The Scissor Sisters' Scissor Sisters
Semisonic's Feeling Strangely Fine - possibly the most underrated songwriting ever!
Ship of Fools' Let's Get This Mother Outta Here
Sona Fariq's Sona Fariq
Sunna's One Minute Science
The Cardigans' Gran Turismo
The Dandy Warhols' Welcome to the Monkey House
The Faint's Wet From Birth
The Mars Volta's de-loused in the comatorium (shame about Frances the Mute though)
The Offspring's Ixnay on the Hombre
The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld - "Little Fluffy Clouds"!
Tool's Lateralus

Near misses would be Beck's Odelay, Depeche Mode's Music for the Masses and the Chilis' Californication - ruined by 'Porcelain' slp bang in the middle :)

Hmm, that list turned out longer than I was planning - sorry about that.
So, what albums would be on your list?

Fair point, forgot about that one. Still, there's CDs mentioned in there with some grotty tracks... [/behind covering mode]

I'd say that most Queen and Leonard Cohen albums fit the bill. So does Metallica's Black Album.

I'm certain I have many more to add to such a list, but it's too much work to go through all my cd's. :)
Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.

Forever Faithless is good, as is Songs for the Deaf.  O.K. Computer is also brilliant.

Hmm... some of the tracks on that were a bit mediocre. To be honest, they're a bit over-rated.

but i can listen to the album from front to back... cant think of any other albums where thats possible.

im sure it has alot to do with me listening to them since im a kid.

but yeah nirvana is way overrated.

I nearly put it in there but then I remembered the second half is mainly filler - unlike the last album which is ENTIRELY filler apart from heart-shaped box.

Forever Faithless is a greates hits I'm afraid, so it doesn't count - OK Computer certainly does though.

Ah, but it contains like 2 new tracks, so it's not all greatest hits. The same could be said for Songs for the Deaf to be honest.
