I wasn't either, but through looking at games released I can see that easily.
Besides, I was born in South Africa in the 90's so I might as well have been in the 80's compared to the US.

Wouldn't really call Bowser too stereotypical he was different when it came out, granted through the years he's been changing somewhat.
