DD, I've always rated that one quite high on Iron Maiden's production. Btw, you didn't answer, what decade?

It's still a good song don't get me wrong, it's probably one of the best on No Prayer For The Dying, but the fact that it's their only number one, which is very shocking, since they have many other far superior songs musically, but oh wells, not a surprise knowing how music charts act.

Through my somewhat daily search of youtube have been waiting to show something off in this thread and tonight finally can.

This is an animation that was done for Dream Theater's song Octavrium, what happened is around the 17-18 min portion of the song (Song is 24 mins long) this animation would play as the band was playing too, it's really pretty funny some of what happens. Great thing about it too is that the animation accurately protrays the notes each of the band members are playing, not like most cartoons/animations which you don't typically see it.

Go see for yourself definitely check it out. Even pac-man makes an appearance.

Funny to notice that it's made by Finn... Which isn't unheard of, but I've noticed this morning couple of Finnish names in very surprising places.

Still I don't get your fanaticism about DT. It's not that good. As one of my friends once said: "Loistava tekniikka, eipä juuri muuta." Which of course doesn't say much to most of us here, means: "Excellent technique, not much more."

Well that's one of the more common things said about DT, so it's nothing new for me to hear. But honestly if that were so, they a. wouldn't be around for 20 years and counting if they couldn't write songs, which is really annoying to hear, as if that were so each song would essentially be messes of instrumentation but they all manage to link together each essential part which is what makes them different. Think that's one of the reasons that they don't fit in the typical cliche progressive metal area that people that bothers people.

I didn't say they're bad. And there are many bands that have been around for 20 years and even more and I'm still no fanatic of them. But about the cliche thing, it doesn't mean it's something new and wonderful, if it doesn't plagiate other bands. It can be pain to your ears. However, DT is technically excellent, which of course rates it far higher than poorly played single-hit-factory-product - and that's the reason why they've been up for over 20 years. But it needs more than excellent technique to be excellent band - in my opinion. And many others.
