I play adom 1.1.1... What about you guys?
Taikara: You seems to try too hard for your characters. Most of the chraracters, especially the spell casters, are too weak at first to try to make the first few quests. When I start a new char, I alway try to guess his strenght and then decide which quest I will do, and not the opposite.
I must say that I try to save the puppy only around 10% of the times I create a new char. And 80% of those die trying.
I tryied a few times to go level to the infinite dungeon before heading to Dwarf Town... And everytime they either died or never found something interesting.
As for the Yyeriggs quest, I never do it if I already have healing. And if I feel my char is too weak, I don't do the druid quest either...
My usual way of starting out is like this: get in Terinyo. If a spellcaster, learn spells. If not, check inventory and look what I got. Then head to the small cave and
try to get the waterproof blanket as fast as possible and head out. If I get to level 3 before finding the blanket, get out as fast as possible. Abord the mission as soon as you feel your char won't make it. Then I head back to Terinyo (sometimes I get good loot at the small cave) and decide if I make one of the two quests. If yes then I try, if no then I go to the shop of the evil town and try to sell everything unidentified there. If he wants to give me a lot of money I keep it since it's probably something good. Then I head for Dwarf town, I try to get there as soon as possible. Try to avoid wilderness combat as much as possible (run for it immediatly when it happen, more often than not you can run away) then get down to Dwarftown and use the altar there if I did not find one on my way to get there.
By dropping everything on the altar, I can see if it's cursed or not. When it's not cursed, I try it and at the same time it will be identified. If I don't like it, I sell it there (whatch out for the mimic in the shop) and by that time I should have got some nice guear and a nice amount of cash. If I need something in the dwarven shop, I buy it. Then use the remaining money on training, and do the Dwarf King quest(s).
From then on... Well, I'm already quite far in comparison to you. You should try this and see if it works for you too.
