Yes I am! Got absolutely nothing. Is it even good? Well, doesn't matter, didn't get it and I already am wielding an amulet.

He should have given you 3,000 gp and the blessed amulet.  He drops them on the floor where you are standing, the idea is you can leave them there for a bigger lawful boost than usual.  Not picking them up is a common mistake.

Yes, it's quite useful to neutral characters in particular, as it draws your aligment towards lawful when you're wearing it.

 Perhaps I should open my eyes. There it was where I left it. The amulet I mean, no gold. Is it safe to leave books to the village? I just wish to save them from the rain.

Just don't wear it while chaotic.  A while ago I had a nasty experience with a level 25 archer who, due to events earlier on in the game, was chaotic.  I died before I left the area of wilderness in which I put it on.

It will protect them from the rain, but there are lots of people runnig aronud and they will pick themn up.  There are a few places in the game where items will be safe.  Try the glade in the south-western portion of the map with the barbarian, he doesn't go to the edges of that area.

Or you could just sell them to Barnabas. Eventually you'll have enough money to buy them back. Or enter one of the dungeons, dump your books on the stairs and leave again.

Two questions... why can't I remove my hat and put on this bone helmet I found, and what's up with carrying corpses around?

Edit: Now it says: "Cursed hat". I suppose I need to take it to a temple of some sort?

Is your hat cursed?  you can't remove cursed stuff, try using a scroll of uncursing, or of item destruction.

Corpses can be eaten for satiation, or other effects, not all of which are desirable.

Dipping them in holy water works too.
Today is a good day for pie.

Damn difficult game  Just had a hurthling healer with some nice stats killed by a fire beetle in the village dungeon. Made the mistake of eating a pixie I killed, too - random teleportation.

I am worried about the message this game brings to our kids...

I sure won't try to eat this Black Hurthing corpse I'm lugging around. Dunno why I'm lugging it 'round, either, but I hope to get a good price off of it.

Hmm, spoiler:
That one's safe to eat, actually. Not particularly tasty, perhaps, but safe to eat.
