I know the level limit, and I think the limits are level 6 for non-trolls and level 4 for trolls. And yes, archer takes him down easily. There aren't actually many encounters in early game in wilderness that archer couldn't handle easily.

Got spoiled, didn't ya?
I find it's hard losing stat-boosting items which you've become dependent upon, which is why I sometimes don't use my best fragile items (like cloaks/girdles/boots and the like) in particularly dangerous situations, like dealing with trapped doors and the ToEF and stuff. Sadly, there's no remedy for a hidden acid trap, other than an absurdly high detect traps skill and a ring of searching.

I'm not really dependant on those items. I just like to try to get the highest possible stat score ever
This is the first time ever that I've had more than 50 in any stat - and if I still had that girdle, I would've had 59 in strength right now. Next milestone is 60. Now I'm back 8 points

Don't remember anymore who was it, but someone was surprised in private or public discussion that I once had a character with initial mana score 30. Well, this is called powerplay and I did everything to boost up my mana, but I didn't get all the best questions. Here's 31.
Immediate edit: and yes, I'm going to try with this one!

Wow, that's a lot of mana. She might have a job carrying anything with 7 strength though

Okay, fine. Add race, class and star sign together and aim for 0, 7 or 14, and you'll get that extra talent. Can't make it any simplier (while working), so try to live with it...
Race value:
0 Orc
1 Gnome, High Elf, Human
2 Hurthling
3 Drakeling
4 Dwarf, Gray Elf, Troll
5 Dark Elf
Class value:
0 Bard, Beastfighter, Farmer, Fighter, Necromancer
1 Weaponsmith
2 Archer, Elementalist, Merchant, Priest, Thief
3 Wizard
4 Barbarian, Healer, Paladin
5 Assasin, Mindcrafter
6 Druid, Monk, Ranger
Star Sign value:
0 Book, Candle, Dragon
1 Sword
2 Cup, Raven, Unicorn, Wand (L/C)
3 Falcon
4 Salamander, Wand (N)
5 Tree
6 Wolf
If this works, total 6 talents is possible with Hurthling Merchant with star sign Falcon, if you can get his/her mana to 18 or above, which is not impossible, though may be a little hard. However, there's 6 questions giving +2 to your Mana, and you need only 10 more points, so it's very much possible.
Anyways, I head to make a depri(ess) with star sign Candle - which should easily give me 4 talents. Hopefully it does or I'll forget this for good...
Edit: Okay, fine I'll give up, unless someone tells me there's some effect on which gender you choose... That's the only thing that might on some level affect, however I couldn't find any mention...

I've finally managed to get hold of a Ring of Ice, and finished the ToEF. Now I'm going to try to reach the Cat Lord, and get his ring.
I have never managed to fulfill the criteria with any character before, and I've only met the Cat Lord once with an earlier character.
Here's hoping I get the ring
Edit:
Hurrah! I just got the "Thin and Nimble" corruption! (1/2 weight and +6DV)
Update:
YES!!! I got the ring!!
And I am real proud over my stats with this character!
Stats:
ST: 61, LE: 41, WI: 46, DX: 60, TO: 47, CH: 44, AP: 39, MA: 39, PE: 59
DV/PV: 107/53
Health: 488
PP: 317
Speed: 162

*envy*
I'm playing a drakish beastfighter right now, level 21. Stats are:
St: 24 Le: 24 Wi: 25 Dx: 39 To: 29 Ch: 13 Ap: 4 Ma: 16 Pe: 20
I'm running around the Tomb of the High Kings right now, hoping to find an Amulet of Life Saving or a Ring of Djinni Summoning. A wand of cold (so I can get the Ring of the High Kings) or a fireproof blanket (I already have two rings of ice and fire immunity) would be nice too.
Where did you hang around ot get all those potions of gain attributes or were you just lucky enough to come across them in the general course of your adventuring?
