Difference in DV here is crucial, thus the seven league boots. If there was no difference I'd choose boots of speed - not to mention if they were better.

Can't remember what were all the three speed increasing objects I wore once, but I think one of them was boots of speed (spd +8) and my total bonus was something like 20 or so. Add into that speed improving traits and born in Raven and you can figure my character was pretty fast! :ok:

Actually, I think blessed seven league boots are faster than the boots of speed, because they don't increase your actual speed - they increase the amount of energy points you need to take a step. At 500 energy points, you'll be able to (generally) take 2 steps for every monster step, and cut down on the time it takes to finish the game (and hopefully finish it before 90 days!). You'll also be able to save food, since you won't be using up as many energy points when you walk (as opposed to 1000 energy points for a normal step).

If you've found seven league boots by now (or wished for them) the DV difference really isn't that crucial, especially at this point in the game where you can find scrolls of defense.

Why should I finish the game before day 90? I tend to just wander around aimlessly for about 150 days, collecting goodies and levelling. Time doesn't really matter for the ending, does it?

All it does is increase the corruption of certain places, right?

So I've been thinking. However I can't believe Seven League Boots would actually double your speed. I've worn them many times in past and all the creatures are still just as fast. Or perhaps they cause everyone to go faster? :ok:

About the time limit: it's more crucial when you're going for an ultra ending, apparently. Never been able to get even close to one myself, though.:ok:

Ahem... Please help me and Tom to solve which one's game is screwed up: mine because I can remove cursed missiles from my missile slot, or Tom's because he can't????

Let me guess: you equipped the missile after you had already identified them as cursed, whereas Tom equipped it while it was still unidentified?

Dunno, I think I've never much cared have I identified it or not... Never had any problems.

Normally you should be able to unequip them, I think. But it isn't really much of a problem for missiles. Unless your missile weapon breaks, of course and you can't switch to another one...

I think that might be it. That it was unidentified. I only tried once, and since then I've just fired them away. ;)

Edit:
Gah. I lost my Crown of Lightning (Lightning resistance and +5 speed), Light Crossbow of Accuracy, and 56 quarrels in an acid trap :)

FINALLY! I've reached forge with my dwarven weaponsmith and my first piece of art: improved balanced orcish knife (+4, 1d3+5) to (+8, 1d3+5)! YAY! And I used only iron ingot, I still got mithril ingot in my back pocket - guess I'll use that into my shield and see what happens!!! :) Ever heard boys need new toys? ;)

Immediate edit: Forget that - it seems that you need (surprise surprise!!!) same metal ingot as the item is that you're trying to improve! :)

You should be careful spending too much time smithing in Darkforge, though (if that's what you meant), due to the high corruption rate of the place.

If you have found a forge somewhere else, hurrah! :)

Unremarkable, of course. Darkforge is a little too bad place for weaponsmith of level 7! :)

Err, don't you have another weapon that's deals more damage than that knife?  :) Your time would probably be better spent smithing a spear or something.

Well, as I said, I was in UD (level 2 iirc) and my character was at level 7, I hadn't visited PC or VD/DD and I simply rushed through the first level to get into "safe". There I was, with very little things in my hand and I had to try blacksmithing, so I melted some unnecessary items and improved my best weapon so far. :)
