Hmm, it's a bit too subtle for non-Americans, I suppose...:bleh:

Well, it's not so subtle that you can't see who it's endorsing. All chaotic NPC's are protrayed as Republicans, while all the lawful ones are Democratic. I especially liked the Rehetep-Iraqi war connection.

You don't need to install it. Just untar it into a directory and run the binary in a shell. Make sure your shell is large enough (25x77) to be able to draw the screen. I use GNOME-shell so that I can use larger fonts. It makes it easier on the eyes ;-)

Say you've untared it into /home/potatoe/games/adom
then cd your way there and type ./adom or from anywhere in your directory tree /home/potatoe/games/adom/./adom
*edit*
In the linux version Biskup hasn't bothered writing a routine for window handling as far as I know. I think he makes use of curses and leaves the windowing to the users choice of terminal. In Windows it's not that simple (I think).

OK, now I get this error:

/*
* ADOM session aborted due to an external problem.
* Problem Description: ADOM requires at least a 25x77 screen to run on.
*/

nvm. I think I can fix it.

As I mentioned above, make sure your shell is large enough (resize it to 25x77 or larger if you want larger dungeons).

No problem. I love using larger fonts and styles other than courier. Makes for a better experience :-)

Not only does it look better, there's fewer bugs too :sneaky:

On the fifth level of Keethrax'cave, I have been unable to locate a staircase leading down. Is this a bug? It would be the second time it happens since I've begun playing ADOM. Or is my trollish barbarian too poor at finding secret doors? I can assure you I've searched near every wall section likely to lead into another room.

Pretty sure there's one somewhere - there's likely to be a secret door about. Try kicking walls rather than searching - it makes a different noise if there's a door. You still have to search afterwards, but at least you don't waste so much time.

Your perception is probably just too low, but in ADOM there's always a way of getting to the stairs unless it's intentional that there isn't (which isn't the case here, since it's a normal level).
Check the level map for places where there might be a hidden room and do a continuous search (type "ws" while standing close to walls). If you can't find any hidden doors that way, do what Beef suggested and start kicking walls.

@Beef: By the way, you can actually kick through hidden doors even before identifying them as doors. Just keep kicking.

Earlier this week I discovered a great combo of race and class. Troll Archer :)

While agility is not exactly the troll's best side, those arrows sure do damage when they hit - and whereas any other archer tend to be monster munchies after 3 seconds in close-combat, the troll puts a completely different approach as to who is the monster munchies for the evening :D

Yo!
